Question...Why is it that so many newbies vanish without a trace after they have left their trainer and go solo? They have time while in school for the three weeks and some time while they are out with their trainers, but then once they go solo...poof!!!

It would be nice to know why so many of them do that. If any newbies are reading this and you haven't posted in a while, please share with us why. I for one am curious.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the high number of people who can't really hack it. Staying on TTR probably would just remind them they didn't make it. New here myself so that's just a guess. I plan on sticking around though since I can't sit still for ten hours anyway!

my theory from an old man ---- they teach them about driving a truck in school but they dont teach them to live on the road and it takes its toll -- i mean the truck stops are getting pretty generic now mostly fast foods and garbage -- they need to learn how to enjoy life on the road a make it into a life instead of going to the same truck stop by that i mean the flying j in lodi california is the same as whytheville virginia same crap food same garbage for sale and its like that at all chains they are gearing more towards the tourist trade now --- there still are a lot of independent truckstops left some are crap some are great but it beats the mediocraty of the chains let alone the health issue and sit at an old truckstop and shoot the bull with the other drivers --- run with somebody sometime and see em again maybe in 4 months across country well the comraderie is going fast too ever see 2 trucks from the same company in a truckstop all day and the drivers never agknowledge each others existance let alone talk i really think they just get burnout from a solitary lifestyle that they dont seem to try to improve

The first 2-3 months solo for a new driver can be very taxing for many, very frustrating for others, and the rest may be too consumed with missing their loved ones back home to deal with logging in here to comment about a day, week, or experience they'd rather forget about.

There are a few new solo driver "diaries" scattered around on TTR if you can find them.

They find out its not a 60 minute EPISODE of BJ & the BEAR or ICE ROAD TRUCKERS , its real life and many can not handle it.

It's the "Our average driver makes $41-46,000 a year" BS. After hearing that, I drove for 5 yrs. CRST, H.O. Wolding, Prolinks. Most I made was $28,000. Don't be a company man.
