I personally like to slam Swift. It has nothing to do with reality, it has to do with one driver who was reading the manual while driving down the highway at 20 mph.

Having said that. We are all adults. No company can screw you without your help. If you do not like your wages, quit. Or form a UNION. That is the whole point of unions. Work together to overcome whatever injustice you see. I belong to OOIDA, because together we are stronger. I would be a teamster if my company was union. Either work for Swift or don't. But man up.

I know of a swift trainer that tried to reach and get something out of his cooler while going down the road at 60 mph. He reached as far as he could, then his feet slipped and he fell off the seat into the floor . Luckily, he didn't use the steering wheel to get back up, and he was still in the road when it was all over with. As far as I know, he's still training .

Is the real point whether or not this driver did,or did not do the right thing?
Or is it possible that maybe he let a bad thing go on for too long?Maybe
exited in a not so good way from another turnstile company that has shown
they do have a track record for unsavory behaviour.
Whats the hire/fire/quit ratio at this particular emploritorium?

Sometimes you gotta go that extra few feet to get another beer outta the cooler.Maybe crawl back to the sleeper get a mug,and eventually crawl back into the drivers seat.
It happens to the best of us.:biggrin_25523:

I'm assuming that you were talking about US Xpress when you mentioned a very poor company. I was actually considering applying there, but now I'm concerned. Is US Xpress a crapola company, or are you talking about another company? I would think with their size, US Xpress would have a good rep.... Please set me straight, if needed.

Yes, I'm talking about US Xpress. It's been over a year since I was there, But it was absolutely the worse. My regular Dispatcher would tell me one thing, then before you know it, there may be a couple of other dps telling me to do something entirely different. Was always like that. I'd get over to a place, someone else would already be there to pick up the same load. I finally got to asking around about usx, and alot of people sayed they used to be good, but not anymore, they had gotten rid of not only alot of truck drivers, but also office people. It seemed like no one knew what to do. I went from being 100% on time with Swift, to about 50% on time with USX. I even started asking the shippers and consignee's about USX, and just about everyone I ask said the same thing, they're one of the worst carriers for em. Always late. Now, that being said, I here that if you team it ain't so bad. I can say this, they do have good trucks. But you'll sure go chasing emptys a whole lot.

And that's a perfect example of difference in opinions. My 2 years with USX was good. A few gripes but nothing serious.

What did Swift do to you recently? Not only did it take you over 5 years to realize you weren't cut out for this job, but it took you an additional year and a half to finally sign up to a forum and complain about it? Seems like you probably just tried to go back to Swift and they turned you away and now you're mad.

You either got fired or you quit. Which one was it?

Exactly. You get paid, empty or loaded, so why care if you're empty? I'd love to drag an empty trailer across the country and get paid for it. Also, you mention that you "ran every load they gave me never turned down a load," yet you turn around and state that if you turn down a load, you'd sit for a couple of days. None of this makes any sense without the whole story.
