You can Google things to do in whatever place you find yourself.

I took a taxi to the old Idaho State Prison while doing a reset in Boise. That was a day's worth of fun.

I've been to a couple of museums if that sort of thing interests you.

Walked around downtown Baker City, OR.

I used to take my mountain bike with me. I'd keep it belted in my passenger seat with the front wheel off(quick release brakes and Hub). Rode all over the Desert SW, spent a day in downtown Indy, and SoCal is loaded with bike paths.

There is that museum on I-10 in Arizona. They have signs posted for miles to see "The THING!"

It is pretty neat in there, and I bought a rattlesnake skull.

I've been to numerous professional sporting events. And been to MANY high school football games all over the country. I've gotten rental cars to see (with my wife): Yellowstone and Grand Teton, Sequoia, Redwood, and on my own I've go to Key West, Glacier, all over western Colorado.

Being that I own my own truck, I do like to go out of route a little bit and take the 'road less traveled', especially across the midwest when I've had the time. So much different than just seeing things from the interstate at 70mph.

I must have passed thru Nashville umpteen times before the timing was right to stop at the Grand ol Opry. I've always been hesitant to leave my truck un-attended while I'm cattin' around town.

I love Nashville. I saw many cities back in my swim coaching days. I used to stay at a hotel downtown whenever I could on music row. Nationals were usually in pretty good places. I saw NYC, Fort Lauderdale, Seattle, Nashville, LA, Victoria BC, Montreal, Toronto, Buffalo, Austin, New Orleans, Minneapolis and many more.

Now I prefer the small towns out in the middle of nowhere.

If you got the time you better do it, especially if on the 34reset. We did not used to have that reset so if I was close on hours I would take a day. Nashville,Tn; used to be a nice truck stop out west of town that let you drop your trailer and bobtail into town. I went to the Opry and the amusment park not sure if that is still there, blew $100, in those days that was some cash. Saw George Jones live and Alabama, it was worth every penny and every minute. As it stands I may not get back there again so as they say "once in a lifetime chance". Memphis,Tn; The Elvis mansion tour. Same thing here, at that time the truck stop let me drop the trailer when I asked at the fuel desk, they were very friendly about it. Bobtail down town to a big parking lot right across the street from the Elvis mansion, the lot is part of the tour parking, big motorhomes and other trucks. They have some museums with his motorcycles and cars and 2 of the airplanes all kinds of old stuff from the 60-70s and then a bus takes you over to the mansion tour. Went to stock car races up in Wisconsin one night, they had the modifieds. Just a spur of the moment deal. Used to go through Vegas twice a week and never stopped for a NASCAR race up on the hill north of town, what a mistake, it was right there in front of me and kept saying "oh ya next year I will have to do that" , ya right. Do not pass up the opportunities provided it does not mess with your schedule you are being paid to do. Watch it in the winter for storms that could mess your roads up and not have as much time as you thought. I have a long list of things done over the years, how about up on Snoqualmie Pass I-90 Seattle,Wa?
Miles and miles of hiking all over, there is one off ramp that loops back around with a small 2 truck parking spot that you can hike up past a creek to an area to shoot your pistol, all legal like, meet other locals up there just out plinkin around. Just cause you are in a truck doesn't mean you can not do what you usually do, always ask at the fuel desk before dropping your trailer. There is a Walmart website that tells you where all the stores are and how to get there, sometimes it is fun just to go bobtail down to their store and window shop and get a movie out of the $5 box, good cheap way to stock up the groceries for the week.

This is the greatest advice, I used to live in tijuana and work in san diego, ten years ago. Now, you could not pay me to spit on the border. Its very dangerous for an american in mexico.
