Webasto cooling system???

POS from I've seen! Too many "gotta do this to get this, and then this if this and then start over" issues!

 

Ya know...when those tree huggers forced the change from Freon to whatever it is now....none of em are as cool as it was!

 

Webasto is not a good cooler, very weak, if ya don't want to get an APU ( which quiete frankly are too expensive to buy and run and in my opinion pointless ) get one of these http://waeco.com/ae/3882.php I use one and I have had it in Spain and Italy in the height of summer and no need to turn it up past 4, works on the truck batteries and will run 30 hrs without restarting the truck, and if the batteries get too low it will shut down! Mine was bought in 2007 and the only service cost was about $50 for a gas top up! They are known as domestic in the us but I've heard there if difficulty getting 12-24 volt versions there but they are made for us trucks as they are very popular in Australia and NZ complete with fitting kits so you don't have to cut or drill your cab!

Alternatively there are water cooler versions like VIESA and are available there, they work brilliantly up to 35 deg C but after that they are useless!

 

I saw these coolers on European trucks, generally on DAF and MAN. They use to install it in sunroof. Really cools down but slowly discharge batteries. So anyway APU with built in a/c compressor is better but I'm not sure about States, in some EU countries there are new APU regulations related with emission (funny to see DPF on APU) and noise.

AT2000ST is a good heater but if you run truck in Canada it is not enought for big sleeper, but good for cabover. For big sleeper I'd recomend AT3500 ore AT5000. But they offer AT2000 in this kit becouse they think truck will used be in warm States

 

The waeco system is a compressor unit! That's the beauty of it and jesus do they cool! Water evaporators like viesa are ok but when it gets too hot the water in the tank gets hot then all cooling is lost, also no fuel burnt, no servicing, belts, oil pulleys etc.

AT 2000 ST is more than enough for Canada. I have never even had to turn it up past about halfway on the coldest days, -20c. Any colder than that and I am idling so I won't need a serice call for dead batteries. Generally I only have to idle in winter a handful of nights a year.

 

I don't know how you mean efficient , bought mine in 2007 and so far cost me 37 euros to get gassed, ive used it in Bari in Italy mid summer mid day (45 deg C not sure what that is in F )and never turned up past 4, I've never had the nightheater up past 3 or set 5 on the timer to roast me outa bed and that was when I used do Sweden in winter, there's no servicing, no belts or fuel, and way cheaper to buy so yeah a he'll of a lot more efficient I would think
