The truck I would be putting this in has a 62in sleeper. Also I got it with the arctic insulation package so I would think that the AT2000 would work good but if the bigger units work well and are not a bunch more money then I might just go with the bigger heater.
-
Any idea how much they cost also did you ever have any leaks? Just worried with the frost heaving up the roads in the winter and all the bumps in the road over time it would start to leak when it was wet out.... -
They cost about $2500 for the compressor units and about $1300 for water evap units. Nope no leaks, the only one I know that leaked is when the driver whacked on the canopy over a fuel station forecourt for cars.

IF we continue to have problems with our Park smarts we have to look into this, we do run midroofs (flattops) so mounting would not be an issue. Also we already have the factory aux. battery pack in between the frame rails behind the sleeper.
I am thinking that I could run the rooftop air off of the existing battery pack, to replace the park smart unit, and labor is in the 9,000 range!!! -
What problems have you had with the parksmart?

Hello, please keep in mind that we bought these trucks used, 2010 Cascadias, built in Dec. 2009 but VERY low mileage between 115,000 and 200,000 miles.
We have eight of them, I truly can't tell you if my problem is more with the system, or the guys at freightshaker working on them, I HAVE NOT been real impressed so far by the quality of work from this dealer. I did have a sit down with the GM, we'll see if it helps.
As far as the units themselves, I have three out of the eight that have gone down, one was an electrical issue that they resolved, the second one they are telling me that the whole HVAC unit needs to be replaced, at a cost of almost 9,000!!!
Yesterday I just had one of my trucks pull up with an oily substance leaking out from under the sleeper where the P/S is located, I am assuming that the compressor seal has failed and leaked out the oil from the compressor, just my guess.
I just assumed that these units would last longer than the batteries that run them. I AM going to start looking around though to see if there is a P/S "guru" out there somewhere to get these things looked at.
I will also add that when they are working, they work VERY well, they do a GOOD job of cooling our 60" midroofs, even in this HOT weather, I could see where it "might" have a problem on a 72" condo.
It doesn't seem as though the Freightliner techs have a lot of knowledge about the unit. JMHO

I've had them since 2010(i do only keep the trucks for 3 years) Only problems i've had is changing the filter and igniter after the second year. But thats any fuel fired heater. One compressor failure @ 2 months(warranty) Have to make sure you clean the filters at least once a month and not block any of the air intake.
-
Thanks wichris, I will look into it, thanks for the tips on the filters.

Just like a fridge, you have to keep the airflow to it. Go to PS and get the breakdown of the unit, some had 2 filters. Never had an electrical problem, sounds like a dealer without proper training. My local one has one person trained for PS.
