What's your fuel mileage driving volvo 780 with volvo or cummins engine?

i get 7-8mpg 75000gross empty from winnipeg to chicago to toronto loaded 9mpg i ran 60mph all the way. My volvo 670 with volvo d12 engine thk. milage goes down because of egr mine stopped working and drated my engine i run flat and minor hills so i am okay i had k&nn filter put in and performance exhaust.

 

gps would disagree with you on that statement.

odometers aren't as accurate as gps. when my truck says 75 mph. gps says 73. meaning my odo is racking up the miles faster then my gps.
my gps mileage is lower then my odometer mileage. on any given trip. my ecm also reads lower miles then the odometer.

and no one can give me an idea of what i mgiht be able to do to make the odometer more accurate.

in other words. gps would give you an actual mileage reading. not the ecm or the odometer.

 

Gps is only accurate if the terrain is dead level. Odometers are only accurate when the tyres are at the wear point that the odometer was calibrated, for instance: if it was calibrated when new then the tyres are new so the odometer is accurate on new tyres but as the tyres wear down the circumfrance gets smaller so the wheel does more rotations giving a higher reading, if it gets calibrated on worn tyres when you put on new tyres it shows you are going slower than you are, usually you would allow 3-5% , nothing is dead accurate when measuring speed

 

My 2012 Volvo 780 is giving me only 5.7 mpg. What could be wrong with the Volvo

 

In 3 months I was at 7.8 in a 2014 pro star with isx.

 

My last team load in a 2013 780 automatic was 8.9mpg (according to qualcomm)
Cali to Wisconsin loaded at 78000ish gross anddddd if it helps it had super singles, trailer tails, trailer skirts, governed at 63, single powered drive axle and wheel covers on the drives (not sure what they're called)

 

This week did chicago to denver,denver to dallas,dallas to chicago. Wasn't heavy,but had to deal with lots of head and side winds. Looke like where ever i go i get head or side wind which is annoying. I got 6.6mpg driving 65-70. 2006 d12

 

Took mine home bobtail to MI from where I got it in GA the past two days.
2017 780 D13 and I-shift, got 10.2mpg going 55-65 depending, but mostly 60, couple traffic jams, lots of wind and of course the hills.

Got to flat land in Ohio, a lot less wind, was getting 11.2 going 65mph.

Really anxious to put a load under her and see what she does.

 

Give it about 60k than start looking at the mileage because until then the truck isn't really broken in.
