It might not be in the regs but that doesn't stop you from going to the place. If I get stuck at a customer and they close and there's no bathroom around. Best believe I'll drive over my 14 to find a bathroom.

I don't want to go to EOBR's but I offered to go to the MCP200 if they would put it in. They told me that one would cost me about $1,000 and I told them that my truck was already wired for that unit. they want me to use the MCP50 and I just told them I'd wait for the mandate then. I already know the in's/out's of the 200 and how to "edit" my logs...... so oh well.

    Truck609 and aiwiron Thank this.

ME personally...I don't need the EOBR's...I run w/my own auth...
...and doing paper logs isn't that tough...
....I run legally...I have no need at all to run illegal..
....I have no need for an EOBR in my truck or any other truck.....nor do I want the expense...
    ....

...EOBR's came on the seen by BIG TRUCKING to relieve them of liability....that's the only reason...period...
....Most of BIG TRUCKING is grossly disorganized and mismanaged...w/little respect for safety..

(I read an article somewhere, on the cost's it would take to get most of BIG TRUCKING organized VS implementing EOBR's ...and BIG TRUCKING went with the EOBR's due to the cost difference)

Big Trucking insisted using them, now they Publicly stated somewhere" we must level the playing field"...

....well I'm not operating in their "Playing Field"....nor do I want to operate in their playing Field".....

....but if they really want to level their playing field,
well then I think the fuel stops should offer all the little trucking companies and O/O's the same price for fuel as BIG TRUCKING...

...this question was publicly asked of BIG TRUCKING
...as of current...and as far as I know
...they never responded back on this issue.

..thanks to the folks at BIG TRUCKING...it looks as if everyone will have to have the EOBR in their truck someday....

Brother I am not trying to start a argument at all, not even a debate about it.

I can go into any scale house and my logs are perfect every time, it takes just a few minutes a day nothing more or nothing less. No laptop or computer needed just some lines and a watch, everyone has a way of doing things and if you want the black box then that is your choice.

But with that said, no one is going to force it on me nor will be told I need a electric nanny.

That $70K is just fine with me. After all, all my personal vehicles are paid for, I have a 40 acre chunk of farm ground, paid for with a 2005 New Holland ag tractor, paid for, no credit card debt. Just bought a new 2013 truck and put 25% down on it. Have a shop for the truck. Only obligation is the new truck and a mortgage on the house on that 40 acres of ground. And the wife doesn't have to work.

$70K is right good money when you live in central Iowa. Average income in Iowa is ball park $35-$37,000. Cost of living is far cheaper than most places. My Blue Cross / Blue shield health ins is only $335 a month (that is my own policy, not some carrier sponsored one). And since I am by the house once or twice a week, and home every weekend, off on holidays, take two or more weeks off a year, and I operate in roughly a 500-600 mile radius of the house, that $70K net is not bad.

I'll admit, it would be lousy in some areas of the country, like Frisco. But I have no desire to live in a higher cost of living area, including all the crime and other stuff. I can step out my back door and fire my 30.06 in my underwear if I want with no hassles from anyone.

I am doing just fine. And keep in mind, that "net" is after every expense, truck payment, health insurance cost..... everything but the mortgage. And that is just the truck. Doesn't count the farm ground.

Every thing adds up just fine.
