Hey all
Looking at Peterbilt 387 C15 Acert Twin Turb, any advice?
MPG, power, repairs, etc??
Trying to avoid EGR and DPF bs as I have heard only the worst about it

MPG's aren't that great I never got mine over 6.1 hauling 30-40,000 lb loads. Rattle's in the interior real bad and a rough ride. Watch the wires on the drivers side above the starter as they chafe and the truck burns, see my thread in this forum... If I had it to do again the truck is no better than a Columbia or century, and they will get more mileage with the Detroit And Peterbilt is really proud of their parts.

All fiberglas truck including firewall and door jambs. My partner has one and it's pure junk! Doors sagging hinge's breaking out of the door, wiring problems, water leaks in the rain ect ect...

That pretty much sums up what I'd always thought about a 387 - really not deserving of a "Peterbilt" logo on the hood and about as sloppy as any run of the mill Freighliner Century or Columbia cookie cutter company truck. I had 3 of them, one from the time it was brand new, and all of them had all sorts of rattle trap issues, rough riding, very hard on steer tires (lucky to get 80K out of a set), very heavy trucks but they all had ISX's and did ok on fuel.. Well, the pre-egr one did anyways. The other 2 might as well had your acert CAT in them for the poor mileage they got. The fact that yours caught on fire like it did... wow.. Hope you get that mess straightened out and back on the road again good luck..

Thanks, it's a waiting game now. Loss control guy at work says it could be 4-6 weeks. I'm getting a new rear tire on my bike tomorrow and have the oil draining as we speak, and I'm hitting the road for tour!

Sloppiest paccar product I'd ever driven, and the accert was terrible on mileage.
I'd much rather have a 386 with an ISX. Better looks, better put together, better mileage, and a more powerful/problem free engine, even with an EGR and DPF.
