Not true. JCT pays fuel/road taxes for us. The ONLY stuff we pay for
is:
FIXED COST

1. Lease note
2. Side note (if any. Side note is the down payment that they allow u to finance so u don't have to come up w/lump amount)
3. APU (if any)
4. Insurance (physical damage, bobtail, & workman's comp)
5 Qualcomm
6. ATBS (optional)
7. Driver Legal Plan (legal representation if u OR ur spouse gets a ticket). Again, optional, but for less than $4/week, sound option.

PARTIALLY CONTROLABLE COSTS:

1 Fuel
2 Maintenance

Everything else is paid by JCT

1 All tolls
2 Scales & re-weigh(s)
3 Washouts
4 Permits
5 Base plates
6 2290
7 Quarterly fuel taxes
8 Anything else I may have missed

In addition to that, they offer a loaner truck that u can use if ur truck is in the shop FREE OF CHARGE, so u can keep rolling.
And, they have a full-time business advisor there just to help you out if u are struggling w/your business. They will also put you in contact w/a "driver mentor" (another JCT driver that is successful) to help you out.

All this for FREE!

I want to reiterate something I said a while back.......THE COMPANY YOU LEASE TO/SIGN ON TO/WORK FOR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE TO PAY YOUR BILLS. PERIOD!!! YOU ARE.
If you have so much personal debt that you need $1200-$1500take home each and every week, then lease purchase is not you. Truck driving may not be the career for you.

Maybe one should take a look at their personal expenses, ie.
- Do youi need 2 car payments?
- Do you need that fancy house? (if you're always on the road, you're not enjoying them, right?)
- Do you need those credit cards? (if ya ain't got da cash, u got no business buying it fool)
- Do you not know what a condom is and you have child support across the lower 48? (that is meant to be a sarcastic joke, although I know a few driverrs it applies to).
- Do you need that super-duper CB radio that lets you talk to someone in China?
- Does all that chrome (inside & out) make the truck perform better?

Bottom line: YOU GOT YOURSELF IN YOUR FINANABCIAL PREDICAMENT....GET YOUR SEF OUT. Quit blaming the company you work for for your problems. They are yours and yours alone. Most companies provide you enough income to make a decent living. You have to manage your money, business and personal to make it the world.

Remember....trucking isn;t going to make you rich, but you can make a nice living, if you do it right!!!

 

One more note....

Are there drivers out there that make $2000 or more take home each week? ABSOLUTELY!! Those that haul specialty freight, government/military freight, and pharmaceuticles make bank. I'm refering to the everyday truck driver like you and me.

 

Yes there are, as with any industry you have to go find it and then make yourself the only person they want to haul their freight. If you stick with brokers and load boards then you'll get broker/load board pay. Most drivers I speak to don't want to make the extra effort and therefore don't make the money. JCT is a good company but there is a limit to what they'll pay because all your loads come from them and you are beholden too them.

I agree whole heartedly. And I say "way to go" if you can do that. I'm an everyday run of the mill truck driver, content with my business. Could I do more? Sure. Just not interested at the time. Wife and I are quite comfy with what is coming in now. I'll tell ya though, once I got a handle on my business, my stress level has come waaaaaaaaaay down and am starting to enjoy life again and all the wonders it brings.
