Dirty, dirty.

All of the big load board o/o companies "seem to be a great place" when the open deck market favors the trucker. They have been able to push rates up and have lots of agents taking advantage of spot market pricing. In other words, lots of truckers making good money. There are lots of people saying not so flattering things when rates start going down. I am not saying anything bad against this type of company. Just trying to warn you against drinking the cool aid based on drivers opinions during good times.DrtyDiesel, Logan76, volvodriver01 and 1 other person Thank this.

I hear ya and I welcome any info I can get from you as I've read that you own your own trucks correct? Id love to be an owner operator BUT I just have no idea of how the system works as far as finding and being paid for loads.
So I figured leasing would be better. I love flat bedding and don't want to give it up for anything. To be 110% honest I just want to make a decent living and drive a long nose truck(9900ix, 379exhd, w900l). That's always been my dream truck, and I have the motivation to stop at nothing until i achieve that dream.
I know it may be foolish but its my goal.

Leasing a truck from CRST is no way to get a hood out infront of you, I would save your ### off and pay cash for an older truck, atleast thats me.
CAXPT, gator21 and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
Another reason is that they are stretched up against the sharp corner of a stake pocket instead of a rounded rail brace.Les2 Thanks this.

Strongly agree with Logan. I believe you are already used to being out for long periods. I would find a company where you can maximize this. Stay out and work hard for 2-3 years. You should be able to save up a strong down payment for a truck. Forget about a hood for a bit. Buy a cost effective truck while you get used to being in business for yourself. A hood is likely to be more expensive up front and costlier to operate. Once you start getting ahead, then start specing that hood. Don't be in a hurry...this will only put you in the poor house.
My father and I own a trucking company. We own 35 trucks and work with 15 contractors.DrtyDiesel, CAXPT, Logan76 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I definitely agree with Logan and you. I wasn't going to do the lease purchase but id rather pay for my first truck either out right or have a hefty down payment like y'all suggest. Once I have my year in I plan on moving to a much higher paying company with flatbeds. That way it'll be much easier to save up money.

Is roehls pay really that bad dirty? I'm not trying to pry here, just wondering who you would go with to end up with more $$$?
