How does one beat the system? I worked 68 hours as of last night on my 7th day, but could only drive today for 2 hours today! Have to drive 14 hours to get back home and to the cosignee, now I'm stuck in a hotel all day waiting for my hours to carry over!

When driving OTR and your allowed to drive for 11 hours a day,you run out of hours on the 7th day on your 70, what about the 8th day?

    Thanks from a greenhorn

You sit and reset your 70, or you run your 2 hours on the 8th day and sit till the next day when you regain some hours, or you figure out a way to fudge your logs

You have to manage your hours carefully. If you stop for a coffee or rest break move up to line 1 to conserve your 70. Also you can work a little less each day to stretch your hours out.

Pull your second log book out from under the seat and there you go fresh hours.

You can drive 14 hours in a day. But it sucks! Would have had to reset by now though... Now you just have to hit the ground running when your 8th day drops at midnight

No, you can drive 11 hours in a day, not 14 hours.

You can't drive after your 14th hour of coming on duty, but you can WORK as many hours as you want on line 4.

And to the O/P, I am in the same boat. Finishing up my reset in a hotel and then driving 9 hours tomorrow to my delivery, then headed 200 miles home for a few days of R&R

Was interested in if most drive 8 or 9 hours a day to help from resetting or other examples.

it all depends on your delivery time and how much it takes you to get there. its all depends in how you plan your trip.but 70 hours is 70 hours. once you hit it on your 8th day your done till you recover more hours or you can sit for a 34 reset.
