Riding with your father/mother would be a big deal for a kid. Something they definitley would never forget. Could you imagine the stories they tell when they get back to school.

I have a NO LOT LIZARD sticker on my sleeper. The saddest thing I was asked before I had that sticker, it was raining, "Driver, I'm cold and wet, let me stay with ya until this blows over?" Hell no lady.

Get a coffee can, works great, wouldn't leave home without one.

I rode with my husband in 2008 and loved it, except the not being able to get out and tour and stuff like that. We got to see a lot of countryside and small towns at least, and WI in the fall, I forgot how pretty it was up north since we have been in the south since 1982, Lake Michigan again somewhere other than Gary and Chicago. Had a scare raising moments in NJ areas under a 13'5 bridge with a Volvo condo.

I did read a lot though, had the light over the passenger side of truck that someone had put some sort of a translucent red nail polish over where it cut the glow at night. Also had my laptop. With the side windows in the back and the front window of the truck, it was like a panorama of scenery. I also had binoculars too.

So if your wife or a kid wants to go and your company will let you take them it would be a great adventure. We only had the old SpongeBob TV from a grandson that picked up airwaves or we could watch DVD's, not like now I think with all the games they have.

I too have seen a couple of trucks who looked like the family were living out of it also, one had a baby under one and the other was about 4. I imagine it is worse now than it was 4 yrs ago.

Just warn them about the 34's, we always preferred a rest area or oasis if in Ohio over a truckstop.

In 1978 I was a pregnut mom with a 3 year old, driving truck with my first husband. He had a long nose pete with a flat top. Before that we had a cab over. Having the kids on the road, is one way to teach them that family is everything. We did not have all the safety items in the sleeper there is now. I climbed out of the truck 7 hours before the new baby came, and stayed home for the next 25 years. I am back out here again, and won't take the kids. Life was simpler then, Smile
