I always delivered my loads in the Montreal area and got a load of roofing back from Hawkesbury into Maine. Crossed the border in Derby Line, immediately took the first exit and then 105 to New Hampshire. Always thought I was legal on the state routes with 90,000 gross...

Lately it's very slow in the shingles and I hardly cross the border anymore. Mostly reload in Montreal area for the Atlantics.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why not just put a 13 or 18 speed in the Pete? Should be cheaper than buying a new(er) truck, and you can tailor your existing rig to what your needs are then.

Well it was fun to think about, but I'm staying with my PETE. Really my only reason for thinking of an upgrade was being paranoid about inspections in an older truck. I'm going over it again and doing anything that I can find. I'm doing the steer and front drive brakes next weds (rear drives are great), Putting new liners under the fuel tank straps, replacing the grill (hole covered by license plate) and the 2 stacks. I'm also going to remove the wet kit. It's the big Muncie diamond plate tank and it weighs too much and is in the way of a headache rack. That should do it.

I would like an 18 or 13 speed, but the 10 speed just doesn't bother me. Lots of power in the CAT, and I get where I'm going.

With a 13-speed you only use 10 or 11 gears, so shouldn't be a problem. Good luck..!!

    turnanburn Thanks this.

I loved that extra gear on a 9 speed a few guys knew about it. Seemed like it added a few extra Hp's. Pulled a few 350's with a 290 with that sneaky gear. Good old days!!!!.

Well I still have three farm trucks that have two sticks. And no power steering. And little motors. If you get real nostalgic you can come over and help.

No problem Sir. I prefer a truck with no aircon. Does it have a solid seat? I.e no airide. Not worried about a tacho or speedo. 11-20's with lock rings. Should have 220Hp's at least. Sign me on when can I start. No kidding.

We never had the two sticks back in Holland, as far as I know. I'd like to give it a try once...
