Yes, it was included in the Transportation bill that just passed about a month ago. It provides for mandatory EOBR, but doesn't allocate funds for the implementation / enforcement which means that the EOBR portion could be shelved.
Here's an article: http://www.thetrucker.com/News/Stories/2012/6/29/HouseamendmentstripsfundingforEOBRmandate.aspx -
Congress gutted any funding for the little black boxes.
-
The House passed an Amendment to strip funding, the Senate has not, so it is still unsettled.
-
Irregardless the money is not available, no funds no problem. Senate cannot act upon it unless they money can be found and none is available.

thanks people

Paperless logs??? Are the logs from Germany or something?? Why do they need papers?? LOL
-
if you will read the bill carefully and fully understand it, you will realize that the type of EOBR the bill calls for doesnt exist as of yet. it calls for a biometric way to identify the driver behind the wheel, the current eobr dont make the grade. they are calling for far more than a paperless log
aiwiron Thanks this. -
This EOBR stuff just keeps getting better and better - next thing you know they'll be wanting to tatoo a barcode on your fore-head.MNdriver Thanks this.

Didn't read the new law. The old one states that if you unsat condition and want to stay in business. You'll get them. plus fines for each dvr with violations. You can either pay 1mil or get paperless and only pay half. Company I know that got forced into them.
