CALHOUN COUNTY, SC - Three tractor-trailer drivers narrowly avoided being shot Tuesday night. Captain Stevenson of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department says, shortly after 7pm, shootings shattered the windows of the truckers on I-26.
The shootings were just minutes apart. The tractor-trailers were going in opposite directions on the highway. The incident happened at the second overpass past exit 129 at mile marker 134, which is near Saint Matthews.
Later, officers found the .22 caliber rifle which they think was used in the shooting on the overpass, along with shell casings. Two of the vehicles were heading eastbound and one was traveling west. Two of the drivers were men and one was a woman.
Although the drivers weren't shot, one of the men and the woman were scratched by the shattered glass. Highway Patrol and Calhoun County Sheriff's Department officers are investigating.
