:biggrin_25520:Greetings from southeastern Pennsylvania. I am still in CDL School and will be taking my road test in about 9 days. I first ran across "the truckers report" prior to starting CDL school. One of the recruiters that came to my school recommended the site as well so I decided to sign up.
With my family in mind I will pursue local or regional jobs where I have more home time of at least weekly. There are some local jobs in my area that do hire new graduates but "have strings attached" so I need to check the fine print before making a final decision.
I have been driving professionally since December 2006 at various part time and full time jobs. I worked part time for the Postal Service as a Rural Carrier for about 8 months starting December 2006 and as a part time School Bus Driver for about 5 1/2 years starting February 2007. I had a full time job at a nursing home driving residents to and from medical appointments and activity trips for 4 1/2 years starting September 2007, and I still was able to work part time driving school bus since I didn't start at the nursing home untill 10:30 AM. But I got laid off from the nursing home (along with about 30 other people) in March of 2012. So I decided that I want to do something related that also pays a living wage and that brings me to where I am today, getting my CDL B upgraded to a CDL A.
As far as hobbies, one of my main interests is photography and old cameras. My oldest camera that I currently have is a folding ANSCO camera from the 1920's that I got as a teenager from a friend of my grandmother. I have several Russian Zenit 35mm cameras from the 1970's to 80's that I still use on occasion as well as some Pentax K mount cameras from that period as well. However, like most people, I mainly shoot digital pictures now (can't beat the price). I have a Kodak DC290 from 1999 that is about 3MP, a little slow with the shutter lag, but built like a tank. Some day down the road I may get a digital SLR which I can use with my current 35mm camera lenses (with the right adapter), but first things first.
Life at home is good. I have my wife, stepson, his girlfriend and my grandson all under one roof. We also have typical pets consisting of a Lab, a cat, some fish, a lovebird and a guinea pig. I recently purchased an old 89 Ford F150.
My best wishes to all that you have a happy home life and work life.
