UH OH! Man gets $12,500 fine for interference

    Its how people get into trouble over the inspection clause of Part 95. If you transmit with ANY radio--TV, broadcast, commercial, ham, CB you MUST permit inspection. The moment you transmit, you are AGREEING to abide by FCC's rules whether you sign something or not. Don't wanna be inspected? Don't put up a CB station! Simple as that! Folks confuse radio law with constititional "search and seizure" laws, and they are two different things. You may not agree with it, but is IS the way it is! If you are messin' up someone's commercial radio system, you ARE going to pay the piper, that's all there is to it! It should be that way!:yes2557::biggrin_25523:

    Well like you said, some are not educated on how antennas work and how power is not always the answer. The sucky thing is the FCC messed up bad by allotting the 27 MHz area to CB. They should have instead allotted them (IMO) a higher frequency that could utilize a better shorter antenna that wasn't such a compromise like the 5 ft. whips on most semis are. BTW isn't your call sign K4KWH?


    Lots of people say "aaaauuuudio" as it's a cheap way of doing a modulation check. But if someone is doing it all day....:biggrin_2554:

    Turbo-T You have think about when the CB band was created. Quoting from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens'_band_radio

    So the FCC moved the CB band because it was neither practical nor affordable for the average consumer.

    CB got along pretty good until the 1973 oil crisis the U.S. government imposed a nationwide 55 mph speed limit, and fuel shortages and rationing were widespread.

    Secondly, It was years before the use of linear amps became common. And also most of the CB'ers were courteous.

    All day long on various channels. You can hear this same guy over the entire midwest. I sometimes wonder if it's a looped recording but it doesn't seem to be. The guy really is that stupid.

    Well aware of the history of CB. They tried with 460 MHz UHF, couldn't they have made VHF work? Maybe something in the 150 MHz area, similar to what MURS is?

    Furthermore, the FCC imposed a 150 mile talk limit, yet they used a band known for allowing you to talk miles. I suppose in the first sun spot cycle of CB, people had enough integrity to not talk DX when they found out the guy (or gal) on the other end was over 150 miles away?

    Haven't heard him. The only guy I ever heard of in the midwest that was known to be a real nuisance, was the ham op in OKC that went by the name Bamm Bamm, that rigged up a sound clip inside of a Realistic Navaho base and used a remote control to randomly set it off...you've probably heard it...it had to do with having a night gown on, panties on and being ready for bed. :biggrin_2555:

    On the other end I use to be a controller back in the 80's. I could hear the tower on a certain radio station as I drove by.

    I remember one crazy man had a hand held radio that he was trying to give commands to airliners landing at Orlando International. They took that very seriously. He did it for about a week before they caught him. But yeah strong signals or close proximity and they'll bleed across. Most of the frequencies I remember were around 118-136 MHz. Navaids were right below that to 107 MHz. Most military used UHF.
