I got denied for a job with a company I won't name. No tickets no criminal history just got out of the army 11B airborne I was med boarded with 9yrs in. The only thing I had to put on there because they ask what your DD214 says was I injured my back. The injury wasn't bad enough I had to get med boarded but it was bad enough I couldn't be an 11B and I didn't want to reclass so I took the MEB. oh my credit is excellent as well so no other reason to be denied and I live in there current hiring area. So it's happening so called military friendly companies just like saying they are but there not. I bet I could still out pt the guy on the phone and the people who denied me. There lost I say, I work hard and I'm dedicated to what ever I'm doing so someone else will just bennifit from hiring me. Don't let these people get you down just move on guys.

check FFE. they love their vets driving for them. call and ask to speak with penny (i think that is her name.) as for werner shutting you down, dont let that work you up. contact your VA and tell them what happened and even check your local VFW and ask to speak with the post commander. i am sure he knows people/organizations to work with your situation. but above everything, do not hide anything from the companies. it will come back and bite you if you get hired. remember what it was like at MEPS? if anyone hid anything on their application, they were told to leave. a lot of these companies run their own version of MEPS and boot camp.

I'm still gonna say don't tell them that you collect any disability compensation it's not their business they have no need to know that. If they ask why you were medboarded just tell them why but don't tell them anything else. All I told my company that I work for is that I had multiple concussions While in the military because they asked if I had been in the hospital or had any injuries in the past however many years

I agree I'm telling anyone crap from now on. I didn't know they can't legally ask so I'll have to look that one and confirm it unless someone has a link handy.

I don't see why the military can't take care of their own and retrain them in a new MOS as an option if they want to stay in.

The problem with trucking is it's a safety sensitive position where your actions could affect those around you. One wreck not even your fault and PTSD will give the lawyers leverage against you. There are loopholes for trucking companies to use. Read this link from the ADA... http://www.ada.gov/employmt.htm

It says what they can and can not do.

You said you had a family. I wouldn't waste my GI bill on a $6,000 trucking school tuition when it will pay much more on a four year degree for you or your kids. Have you considered college? It's a tough four years but it can be worth it in the end. You can even attend classes online if you so choose and on your schedule since many are recorded in archives. I'm currently enrolled online and it suits me fine. Or like CAXPT said, start you your own business. Or do both.

There's a lot more than combat that can mess someone up with PTSD. There are young kids out there that had traumatic childhoods that been raped by their father and stuff. It doesn't have to be just war. But I know what you are saying. Why should some cook or supply clerk get it working behind the lines? Maybe it was something other than combat the psychiatrist seen. I personally know a woman that was a communications specialist that is is diagnosed with PTSD years later after the doc found out she has been raped.

Yes they did you a favor. You didn't want to go there.

Just because they turned you down doesn't mean the next company will.

Well thanks for the link. I'm filling a complaint with the VA according to what I just read the information they asked for and I gave them they had no right to ask for according the Americans with disabilities act. They could ask me if I can perform the duties which I can.

Edit: I guess I'm also stupid for being one of those people that didn't know there rights.

My PTSD is diagnosed at 50%.I work everyday and do the best job possible.I guess being on the road by myself is a good career choice but I'm not intense, hostile or dangerous..The people with PTSD know what I'm talking about.
Sorry it happened to you.Good luck my brother.
