I did orientation in Ellenwood GA Idk how Phoenix does but should be very similar. Its more nerve racking than anything. But my instructors were cool, laid back and very helpful. My trainer was cool too. Once u go solo for a while you'll look back and see that its gravy. Like I said before you don't have to be Johnny trucker first going in. You'll do fine one day at a time and you'll be on the road rolling.

after all the years driving i have,i still get nervous during driving test.i one time had a guy with dart threaten too flunk me because i rode with my seat on the floor.
-
One of the guys in my truck messed up a lot and I was always after him during training. When I tested out I was nervous but not as nervous following another guy that was having a hard time.
-
most won't flunk you for small stuff.if you miss a gear,no sweat.it's how you recover.wear your seatbelt, and make sure everyone else in the truck is also.if you don't use signals, tailgate, don't keep checking your mirrors may flunk you.

I am a new graduate and have read several threads about Roehl's driving test. I have a pre hire with Roehl but haven't called them back yet. One thread was saying how he had to back in a S. My driving school or state didn't require me to do a S back. With practice I know I could do it. From what I have read about Roehl they are very impatient with newbie's and will send you home in a heart beat. I am glad to see this thread. Makes me feel better about this company.

Bristol, you posted on another thread and it was answered there, but I will add some. First, Roehl is NOT impatient with new drivers. If you show them that you know the basics of driving, handle yourself in accordance with their expectations and are open to learning. Then you will be fine. The driving test is a basic drive through whatever town you go to to make sure you can actually drive the truck. Are you going to screw something up, YES. Just don't do anything that could hurt someone, speed, or freak out when you make a mistake. It's that simple.Bristol Thanks this.

One person shushed a instructor while she was driving. She was speeding and not paying attention to traffic signs. She got real close to hitting someone as well. She was a scatter brain for the most part. From what I heard after she got the boot, she was talking to her conscious and the instructor was warning her about her driving and she shushed him. We all got a talking afterwards and thought we did something wrong but they just wanted to reiterate that they'll be cool And relaxed make jokes and have fun but don't take advantage and think you'll slide on the driving mishaps BC they take it seriously. The Guy that was in my group was having trouble with everything all the way to the final day on phase one before we got assigned trainers. They should've helped him out or sent him packing but They passed him anyway. He went out with a trainer owner op they didn't get along and he quit and went to us express where they have automatic trucks. U will make mistakes but u have to show improvement throughout the week. Show them what u learned and apply it. That u care enough to evolve as a driver. BC if u don't then why should u get hired. I've said before its nerves more than anything. If u want it that bad and apply yourself you have nothing to worry about.Bristol and skyviper73 Thank this.

Thanks for the replies to my post. I went to school with a guy that went to Roehl. They let him go because according to him he couldn't down shift. He also said how impatient they were. That is where I got my info.
There is probably more to the story that wasn't said.
