OOIDA member Doug McCauley of Jacksonville, FL, said he was just reading a bulletin board and killing time at the Ambest Truck Stop in Cornersville, TN, when he stumbled across a plea from a 13-year-old boy that touched his heart. He immediately bought a card, mailed it and sent a message by Qualcomm to other drivers urging them to do the same.
McCauley said he read on a bulletin board that Josh Adkins of Stanford, KY, was battling cancer and that his ultimate goal was to set the Guinness World Record for receiving the most get-well cards. He also called Land Line and the staff confirmed that although many such stories are bogus, this one was true.
I saw that and I just felt so sad for this to happen to him and that maybe I could help him, McCauley said.
In the card, McCauley said he included a note to Josh that he was praying for him to get well and that he hoped he set the world record.
Unfortunately, McCauley hadnt heard the news that Josh had lost his battle with Leukemia on Oct. 25, according to a message posted on the city of Stanfords Web site.
Many of you throughout the community have been showing your support and sending cards for 13-year-old Josh Adkins. He battled cancer and was taken off of life support Oct. 24, 2007. Josh died Oct. 25, 2007.
Land Line plans to follow up with Guinness World Records to see if Josh achieved his goal.

As for me I know Josh is well NOW. So his prayers were answered just not the way we think.
As long as we have people praying for others all is not lost.
