I had the same thing happen to me and I did not go too inter veiw at the first one and reapplied at the closer place and declined the position after being hired and now 2years and 6 months later I went back too the closer place and apllied and am suppose too start in 2 weeks after doing my interviews and I am getting cold feet about it because I am not sure what I will make at .4125 @ mile and $42 layover I am making about $1200@week at my present job but if I had too log legally I could not do it and this is what concerns me as I know I can do it legally at Walmart driving so I really have some thinking too do about this Walmart drivers are skeptical about talking about there pay

Something is not making sense if you are far enough along in the process to have a start date then you should know that there is more to the pay package than mileage and break pay. Activity pay is a large part of the compensation package did you miss that during your meeting with HR? Do you actually have an orientation start date or are you still waiting to interview and expecting you will receive an offer?

Why would you work for a company where you have to falsify your logs to make 1200.00 a week? Better yet why would you come on here and admit that you falsify your logs on a regular basis. Not only are you breaking the law which is a huge issue but you are also opening your employer up to a huge amount of liability. These are not the traits of a professional driver so you really should stay away from my company. There are plenty of companies out there where a driver can make 1200.00 a week and do it legally, maybe you should give one of them a try.

Its not that were skeptical about discussing our pay, unless you understand how the system works the numbers are only going to confuse most drivers. There are several different types of pay based on mileage and work activity. Do you know that a large number of the applications received for driving positions at Walmart are not filled out properly? If drivers are not smart enough to fill out a simple job application properly how can they be expected to understand the pay system?

Of course a driver wants to know what to expect in the way of compensation before they make a move.
The pay package is discussed in depth during the hiring process,no one is asking a driver to come here and start working without knowing what to expect for compensation. Its safe to say that most drivers will see a big increase in pay working for the private fleet. Those like myself who were already at the top of the income scale at their previous employers will continue to make great money but will also enjoy the respect and excellent working conditions here at the private fleet.

I would stay where your at, you'l make more at WMT legally but probably won't be happy. I still think the new hiring process B'tnville invoked is a joke! These telephone interviews just don't cut it. They need to put it back in the drivers hands, and be able to look the applicant in the eye,ask the hard questons and see his or her composer(also hygiene) JMO

Take the job where you can get it. You might not get a call from the 100 mile DC. You might be able to transfer later.
