1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

    Mega carriers go away.

I want a job driving trucks. I have let my hazmat slide but can retest for it. I would like an employer in the state of Maine yet that is negotiable. I would love to find some one that has a Freightliner pre 07 that I could work off. I plan to be an owner operator some day.

The loads I have delivered were on time. I only had one load that was not. I live 5 hours from the shipper and I worked on forced dispatch. The load had a delivery of 7 hours. To get the truck loaded took two hours. It just was not possible for me to deliver that load on time, yet it was delivered.

To be honest I only have 4 months on paper and nothing to prove other than my logs that I even worked for Western Express (that would have made it 5+ months).

I am 52 year of age. I treat everyone with respect when I meet them. You have to treat me poorly to lose that respect. Yet if your willing to work me as an equal, I will give you all that I can for honest work. I learned to drive in 2007 (CDL) as I saw it as a way to better myself. Yes I feel I have learned alot from it. The companies in this area dont seem interested in some one over 52 to drive for them. I have a clean history.

I will team drive, but I wont be your slave and drive the hours you dont care for. If you want me to drive nights, thats fine, but you have to drive some of the night as well. I would prefer solo but I understand otherwise.

I understand that the wheels not turning makes you not earning. Yet I do have some customers from my own work. So it really boils down to how well it works out. If I feel we are on the same page, then I will tough it out and say goodbye to my slow life. Yet I hope that after 2 weeks on the road you will understand if I want to have 5 days off. I dont want to be married to the road. Yet I do want to work. My offer is sincere.

    Thankyou for your time.

well i dont know anyone in maine, but there are regional companys that will hire you.that part about taking 5 days off is going to be a BIG problem.no one is going to let that happen.2 or 3 days tops is all you'll get.thats the life.ive been at it 24yrs,on my 3rd truck and i call all the shots.when i take 4/5 days off as an o/o it hurts the wallet bigtime.the usual formula is 1 day off per 7 out.if you get on with a local stick hauler(trees/poles) you will make good $ and be home bout every nite.it sounds like the otr thing isnt what you want.there are ltl carriers in new england that will hire you if your clean.

With your "wish list," OTR is not for you. You will be disappointed and frustrated. OTR is more than a "job."

A local logging company has expressed an interest in hiring me. I sure hope it works out. Granted I prefer Freightshakers, yet work is work. They have pornstars and Kenworths.

I thank everyone for your considerations on posting here. Good stuff.

I'm OTR and I work 2 weeks and take 2 weeks off. I've been operating this way for the past 4.5 yrs and live a comfortable life. With this said, I will also say that my truck & trailer is paid off, and all I have is my house (not on wheels) mortgage and your basic bills. Like the OP, trucking is what I do, its my job, but I'll be damnned if it is going take over every minute of my life. It is possible to have both if one is willing to do what it takes to make it happen.

Pornstar is one of the nicknames that has come up for the International Prostar. I'm not assuming you already knew that.

FYI: Your age has nothing to do with not getting a job. Biggest thing is your lack of experience. Lower your expectations of time off and brand of truck, get a job and do a year clean and then select your hours and tractor.
