Thanks adkhunter, sorry about the typo. meaning without hazmat pay is .04 cpm less. Still wondering about reefer
pay...is it .48 like hazmat? -
Hello all,
A question about teaming:
After finishing the time with a trainer, how are team mates selected?
I may be coming to USX but not with a team mate.
Would I be teamed with a more experienced driver?
One with the same amount of time BTW?
Is it just a crapshoot and you get who is available?
I have hazmat, tanker, and doubles endorsements.
As a side note, I've noticed that people in the offices of trucking companies are very good at ignoring phone calls and emails.Last edited: Aug 14, 2012

You will get paired with someone who lives close to you so home time isn't a major issue. They will have the same BTW experience as you. It's mostly a crap shoot but they do their best to get someone close to you. And if you have any problems with them immediately notify them to get a new team mate. Hazmat will be the only endorsement that you will use or get paid any extra for unfortunately. I have all the same endorsements too.
Haha yesss they are VERY good at ignoring phone calls, voicemails and emails. It's very aggravating at times! Your best bet is to keep calling. Good luck to ya -
Reefer pay is the same. You MUST both have hazmat endorsement to get .48, even with reeferlilinjun Thanks this.

That's not the impression I got, but we both had hazmat anyway. When the FM asked if we wanted to do reefer he said we would be bumped up to .48. He didn't remember we had hazmat.

oh well, we've decided to go ahead and get our hazmat. seems like the logical thing to do. What about home time, is usx good about getting you home on request? what if you want an extra day or two, family emergency etc.? How long do you folks stay out? I understand you can take your home time anywhere, is this correct?
Thanks! -
Getting home on the day you ask for is dependent on where you live and if freight is running there. I live in South Florida so I never really expect to get home on the exact day. Normally I get home within a couple days of what I asked for.
Four days is supposed to be the max amount, but I've stretched it out to five. If you want to saty home any longer than that they will want to reseat your truck.
I stay out from 6-8 weeks.
Yes, since you are team you can take your home time anywhere.lilinjun Thanks this. -
Honestly, this is all dependent on you Fleet Manager. We have taken 7 days off once with no issue but that is NOT company policy. We have never once been "home" later than 12 hours than our requested time off. I do not believe that is normal, however, based on what I hear from other drivers. You need to build a great relationship with your fleet manager.lilinjun Thanks this.

If you get your hazmat while employed with USX they reimburse you upto $96. I didn't have it when I came but I'm getting it as soon as I get done with training.lilinjun Thanks this.
