Had to ask...what companies don't want you to run at night??? And in sure your talking about truck with sleepers on them ....it's your log ..you 11/14 run it however u need to as long as you deliver on time....

Two off the top would be Crete and JB Hunt. Don't quote me on it though. Plus, JB Hunt is more into hiring owner operators now so who can tell with them. Yeah, trucks with sleepers.

While my current disdain for Crete is documented in another thread for a different reason, the night running statement here is bogus. I've run plenty at night as a given load has required me to do.

    paul_4lp Thanks this.

Dude ..I've seen plenty of BJ hunt trucks or DBJ (dedicated) with sleeper ( might only be 58") ...but still ...daycabs still run 11/14 ...now there dedicated routes might decide when the set out on any givin day...but I still see nothing that indicates the company says " you can't run at night "

Speaking of running at night...that's been my story this week. Finally broke the pattern today. It was almost strange driving in daylight. Miles have been kinda sparse this week. When I deliver tomorrow morning in Ballground, GA I'll have 1900. I might end up with 2200 for the week if things go my way. So far this week I have been to Cincinnati, Hagerstown MD, Morgantown PA, Knoxville and now finishing this load off to Ballground GA tomorrow morning.

I talked to one of our Flatbed drivers at our Winchester, VA yard and he said he averages about 2700 miles a week. That's not bad but I think I'll keep my dry box.

I had a mishap today. I was about .3 miles from my customer in Knoxville looking for the entrance to the place and I didn't see a tree branch dangling from a tree on the side of the road. It scraped across the top of my tractor and ended up bending my exhaust stack a bit. I called it in to the Accident toll free number and notified my FM. Was told it was minor and no need to fill out an accident report. Just have the shop at my terminal fix it so I will write it up when I get home. I've not had to call in anything like that before ever. Everyone was very nice about it. Enough of the that kind of excitement for a good while that is for sure.

I talked to my former trainer and he is getting a 5 week student on Monday fresh out of driving school. Makes me wonder how the recruiting at the schools is going. Well I imagine.

Hope everyone is doing well and you are getting good miles.

I delivered this morning and headed over to our Fulton yard to have my truck checked out. All is good. They need to replace my exhaust stack this weekend. I called CHA and the shop ordered the parts so it will get done before I head out on Monday afternoon.

I am picking up a load in Braselton, GA tonight and taking it home on a relay. Then I take a leg 01 to Hebron, KY on Monday from the yard. Looking forward to time with the family. That is priceless.

Braselton,GA? You were in my neck of the woods. (I live about 5 miles away in Auburn,GA). Glad things worked out with the truck repairs.

I have been on and off about going with Averitt for a long time now but the sleep apnea thing is what has made nervous. I am a little over weight but am mainly just a big guy, 6'2'' 300 lbs. I am a type 2 diabetic but I control it with pills so that should't be an issue. I guess my question would be how much would the sleep apnea study cost me? From what I have read I am sure I would be required to have the study.

That is correct. I had been here a few years when I got mine and just paid the $500. Insurance covers supplies(filters, hoses etc.) 100%

She also told me that if the test came out negative there would be no charge at all, but I knew I had a serious problem without taking any test. I should have done it years ago.
