Hey guys, 2 weeks ago, my air dryer system put me on the side of the road. Got towed in to Volvo Laredo who changed the dryer system. Last week she started having problems again so I took her to Volvo in Jackson, MS. They replaced the air governor because there was about 150 psi in my system but they said the air drier was fine. Well, the air dryer now sounds like a membrane is loose where the system spits out air/moisture. I came to find out that my tanks were full of water. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen? I religiously check them 1/week and have NEVER seen any water. Could something be plugging somewhere and not allowing the moisture to get to the dryer? Thanks in advance.

Drier is first stop south of the compressor far as I know...... obviously not working if tanks have water. Filter might be plugged. Check in at nearest dealer whom will honor warranty and if you stay down south here with me, drain daily. 100% humidity collects fast.

FYI ....A bottle of Isopropal alcohol poured in the glad hands, then twist hands together, then release all brakes and spike brake pedal several times will clean system.

    Good luck.

Did you find oil in the air tanks? Oil in the system is a killer for an air dryer or valve. Is the governor set at the right pressure? If the governor is set too low the air dryer wont purge.

if you have an ADSP or equivalent the cartridge is the round thing that looks like an oversized oil filter. If you have an AD9 then it is inside that big metal "tophat" on the drier and requires removing lots of little bolts to get to it.
Are you sure you replaced the drier? and not the compressor? A new drier hooked up correctly would be able to deal with almost any level of normal humidity.

As mentioned, oil in system is bad.
AD-SP, AD-IS, AD-IP cartridge change interval is at least 6 months. (More frequent in harsher conditions)
    Suggest changing purge valve also.
AD4, AD9 cartridge change interval is at least once a year. (Incorporate in Annual Federal Inspection)

how old is the truck? does it have an engine coolant type aftercooler as opposed to air to air. the old cummins air compressor head gasketts would leak coolant into the discharge hose and into the dryer or wet tank. are you loosing coolant?

This is a problem I just ran into myself, i went to a school with a good rounded curriculum, no driver mill-and 7 years later I'm just learning about air drier cartridges. Hell, never even heard of an air dryer till volvo told me they were replacing it 2 years ago, never new it had parts needing service till 2 weeks ago, and didn't understand i could do it in 10 min till today when couldn't get an appt at shop that told me i needed it 2 weeks ago. How is this not something every rookie is taught/part of pretrip? First literature I found on it today said just a few hours of oil fill could cost brakes.......they told me I needed it pdq at that shop, but apparently didn't stress the need enough. Wondering if this will fix my non functioning spring brake trailer valve....
