Hi all,
I would like your opinions on USX.
I want to know the good and bad.
If you are sill in orientation, a current driver with little time, or a current driver with a lot of time tell me why you stay.
If you are an ex-USX driver that was happy at one time but something changed, tell me the bad.
Please respond only if you have first hand experience with USX. (no "I heard from someone that heard from someone").
I don't personally know anyone here so everyone's opinion will be treated the same.
A simple pros-cons reply will work.
I appreciate all your input.
Let me hear the good and the bad

What do you want to do,go otr or dedicated?
Solo or team?
How many weeks will you stay out for? -
OTR
I understand teaming is required for 6 months per the paperwork I got from USX recruiter:
Student Driver Agreement to Team
As a student driver, I ____________________________________, understand that my
employment with U.S. Xpress, Inc. will be contingent on my agreement to work as a team driver for a minimum of six months after upgrading to a first seat driver
Not sure how long on the stay out time. -
You might want to call usx and ask about the forced team requirements.I understood
It to be 8 weeks with a fellow student after you upgrage from training.
The reason I asked those questions is that every situation is unique.
A dedicated driver will have different challenges to. An otr, such as more tricky
Backing situation.
A team will not have the hassle of lost time at shippers as much as a solo.
A guy pretending to be a truck driver but is really an unemployed office robot that
Wants to go home and sit in front of the tv rather than get the miles in will
Have an empty bank account. -
I just got the info from USX Monday. The form is called "Student Driver Agreement to Team 0909".
I also talked to a recruiter today.
There's not much I like on TV.
I understand that for me to earn, the wheels have to turn. -
Ok.
How happy you will be at usx will depend a lot on you.
Been here over three years and do ok as a trainer.
Pick up and deliver on time and build a good reputation,I have been lucky and have
Had good fleet managers.sometimes go a month without conversing.
In the beginning they will try to push and pull you around a bit.deal with it,gain
Some experience and don't give up
Money after training will be good from the get go if you get a good partner.
Learn how to manage time.I tell my students I can teach them how to drive
But not arithmetic.it will make you a few hundred a week extra.
Have a student right now who has to team for 8 weeks.
Don't sign anything until you confirm what you are getting into.bert57nc Thanks this. -
usxpress is not bad if u like otr.
bert57nc Thanks this. -
not bad equipment and plenty of freight.
bert57nc Thanks this. -
I'm a current driver. I've been with USX a little over a year.
The pros are good equipment, well maintained, decent miles, pay slightly higher than most starter companies, job security.
The cons are about the same as any other huge training company. It's easy to get lost in the shuffle if you don't keep up with communications. Their load planning could use a little work. There's a bit of "too many cooks spoil the broth" associated with big companies.
I stay because I'm happy here. I do look around for a bigger, better deal but I haven't found one. If I leave it won't be because I'm unhappy. It will be because I'm moving upward.Pirate Trucker XOXX, jamesd503, bert57nc and 2 others Thank this. -
First I've heard of that.
