Sleeping in Wendys... I'll try that sometime. I only take a 2 hour off duty break each day, either it be taking a nap or goofing off. I log the nap off duty instead of sleeper berth, mainly because I'm not sleeping I'm napping.
I'm not one to push my luck with running all day and night because the shipper took their sweet time. But doing that in flatbed was another story... That load gets turned down, who would buy a 40k steel coil...? Can't dump that, can ya? Well, you can but it will draw a lot of attention.

His entire time in politics has never been as a friend to trucks and I do not trust him to even consider a truck driver in favorable light.

Does anybody in truck mgmt or politics see us in a favorable light? My safety man called me and 30 of my closest friends "necessary evils" from the podium one Saturday morning....... Part of his motivational speech to us trying to convince us to run a couple of teams for him.

    Ah ya c'mon.......

Having a tough time visualizing that. Especially since that 30 min can be taken anywhere between the 3rd and 8th hour of driving to allow a full 11 driving time. While it is true that some have an unlimited bladder and bowel capacity, most drivers have to relieve themselves at some point between that 3rd and 8th hr. Now taking into account making a phone call home, checking email, catching up on some other paperwork, or a laundry list of other things that need done, it is very conceivable that the 30 min off duty requirement will get used up pretty quick. And in the broad scheme of things, not be much of an issue for many drivers. There, of course, are always exceptions, but the chicken little "the sky is falling" crowd will always dig up a situation where this 30 min will be the beginning of armageddon.

I rarely eat fast food... that's only on the loads,
Other than that I'll enjoy time out of the cab to its fullest and log it has off duty.

Last I looked, the government considered us unskilled labor.

I don't think it will be Armageddon or anything but considering what idiots are already using the fuel island for, besides fueling, it wouldn't surprise me.

I remember when they made the big changes and the claims of the world coming to an end that never occurred. I think we'll survive this, but I wish they'd stop messing with the rules and just stick to something.

Still do Bird along with "exempt" from wage and overtime laws. And the carriers wonder why young people won't enter the industry? Why veterans harbor animosity towards them? ( carriers ) ( senior drivers )

And this guy........I can still see him, all red faced and yelling at us. Guy didn't have a clue as to why not........ just figured we would cause he said so........

But FYI: we might have sent him pissed and packing....and we got a good laugh....but he came back with bigger guns. He fired 11 of us, 2 mechanics and a clerk.
