    Why? Because we are.

He's got some stuff we can do if we are in place and can do it.

Otherwise we find our own loads.

Ok.......... You just attempted to solicit work from away from your carrier. You can't do a thing without f2f ..... So Im sure you will be informed in the future to allow the CARRIER to handle that and if there are individual loads that you can cover they will pass that along.

Don't understand the logic or rules on that one? Can't speak for Bill but I'd be surprised if an eyebrow was raised or anything of that sort. Like he said, that's not how we roll.

Our business model as I understand it.

We are self-dispatched. If there are loads we can cover for someone we can. We also can work with our dispatch and get loads that way if there is something that will work.

F2F has some stuff provided and if he needs a truck to cover it, will ask us. If it doesn't force undue hardship on that O/O, we can cover, we try to. But we aren't forced.

We also can and do provide leads back to Bill for him to work on "central" projects that can work into large dedicated accounts.

In the mean time that those "avenues" are being explored, there's nothing that prevents us in the mean time to start working with someone in this situation so that loads can get moved.

Not trying to take anything from the "carrier". Just providing additional information so that if there are loads that need to be covered, we can start providing that service now.

We have most of our drivers down in Tenn/OH/ILL area as I understand it and I am the out-lier in Minnesota.

Think of it in terms of how Landstar BCO's operate. Self dispatched, able to pick and choose, able to take time off whenever at the drop of a hat and for however long one wants to. It's really viewed by both parties as a true business partnership. Only not being limited to just the Landstar system and able to actively seek out and cultivate business relationships with whoever we choose then developing that. Works out great for everyone involved. As close to being independant as I could imagine the biggest benefit to it is the doors that have opened up due to the fact Bill has 10+ trucks in the fleet now. Some of these people would never give a 1 or 2 trucks operation the time of day. And I'm sure the same could be said of us versus a fleet with 20 or 50+ trucks but where we're at right now is a good place to be.

    jjranch and MNdriver Thank this.

My only point is rollincoal I believe it was you that stated (and this was months ago in another post) that if you have a direct customer you get a percentage off of that...correct me if im wrong...so if someone says hey f2f I would like to talk to you concerinig some loads I have in the midwest ...yet a o/o steps in says ABC then they would expect the percentage of each load having the direct customer although the initial contact was susposed to be with f2f...hence f2f losing whatever % it was that has to go to the o/o overstepping their bounds and jumping in the middle

You're right. He sought Bill out on possible business. That was clear. I don't think Jon had any ill will in mind or would expect a cut from "discovering this contact". That would never fly but I seriously doubt Bill would be upset about the pm. Had the freight been something that interested me I would have pm'd the guy myself and emailed Bill a link to the post. As it is we've been burned on Home Depot loads twice in the past - what we were told were live unloads turned out to be 3 and 5 day drop/hook only ordeals. I believe most Home Depots are like that. I'm not necessarily against buying another trailer so I can do drop/hook I'm just not convinced the rates are anywhere near what my truck moves for.. ..but I could be wrong. Regardless it's not something I'd seek out but may work for others at F2F.

Wasn't thinking clearly earlier. We only get a cut off of any direct contract freight we find. Brokered freight is not like that, assuming here this guy is wanting to broker out some of his direct Home Depot stuff.
