I would let my recruiter know that you have to postpone the orientation if you have to, but I would't wait too long, most companies want you in orientation and training within a month of graduation. We went straight from orientation to the trainers truck and were out for right around 4 weeks, you can do the 120 hours in 3 weeks but usually something comes up. They try to route you home after training but sometimes it can take a few more weeks. Good luck whatever you decide.

The only thing I know about Arnold is that their training period is longer than USX's, but we have pulled Arnold trailers and I've seen Arnold tractors pull USX trailers so they should be comparable.

I believe teams is definitely the way to go with USX, the pay is much better and you always have an extra pair of hands, eyes, etc if you need help with backing, finding a shipper/receiver in a tight city, and pre and post trip inspections.

If you decide to go with them they will try to team you with someone that lives close to you so when you do home time it makes it easier.

We are running anywhere they assign us to go, we both have our passports with us as well so if they need us to go to Canada or Mexico we'll go there too...

    Royburker Thanks this.

i agree with you. with USX going team is pretty good they pay good money better then most. of course teaming isnt for everybody. Arnold there is no teaming as i discussed with the recuiter there. i believe newbies can use all the help they can get in the first year anyhow so an extra set of eyes, hands and help is positive. USX has a competitive benefit package too. A good place to do the first year anyhow.

They haven't sent us over the border yet, but we are prepared in case they need us to go in. Most of the loads going into Mexico are handled by brokers in Laredo, TX so that's as far as you usually need to go.
