I just graduated from SAGE in Cheyenne, WY and have been in contact with May. They told me there was a skills test, and Im probably worrying over nothing, but I was curious how the skills tests work there. The only thing I worry about is the 90 degree back. I passed it at WYDOT when I tested and got my license, but it was ugly and took quite a few pull-ups. I was curious how many chances they give you or if they are more lenient since I will be going out with a trainer anyway. Just curious how all of that works. I was told I would be doing orientation in Denver. Any info would be great. Thanks.

First you do a half circle then straight back around a cone then a 45 around a cone. Goal as many times as you need. Don't hit anything then a drive test make sure you pay attention to your signs if you're still driving when you get back you passed good luck. You chose a great company if you're a smoker I could be your trainer depending on when you do orientation.

Ok. So it doesnt sound near as hard as the DOT test, although Ive really never done a 45 degree back. The recruiter said if I had issues they would either work something out that I could practice at SAGE down there, or work at their yard. They said that with my spotless record that they would work with me. Im probably worrying over nothing, but my instructors at SAGE up here explained once how to do a 90, and that was it. No help or anything.

45 is easy, and the key to a 90degree back is to turn it into a 45.

Just remember that you are basically driving the wheels of the trailer around and you'll be fine.
Once I realized that that's what I was doing, backing up and negotiati.g tight turns became ALOT easier for me. -
Thanks for the advice. Like I said, Im probably worrying over nothing. That was just the part of school that I wasn't comfortable with when graduating. I have the basics, just need more practice with it.
