I'm interested in getting my training through Schneider so I can drive tankers.........I would like to hear from Schneider drivers who drive tankers.
What do you like about it? What don't you like about it? What are the advantages and disadvantages of driving tankers for Schneider?
Is Schneider a good place to start in driving tankers? Is this a good company to stay with for driving tankers?
What kind of routes do tankers get with Schneider?
Do tankers get good miles?
Is the pay any more or any less than van?
Their website says that 75% of what they haul is non-hazardous......Do you find that to be true?

unless you just need the school stay away from schneider..one of the lower paying tank outfits out there...wonderman

I too am looking at schneider because of the option to drive tankers as a newbie driver. I do need the school however and I do not know that 'doode' is in the same situation. Any suggestions on a tanker outfit for a newbie? Unfortunately SNI was all I could find besides PRIME Inc.

I see about 1-3 Schneider Tankers in my home town a week. Seems like decent equipment. Flat top Freightliners and I believe I saw a International one time.
Im also looking into Schneider and would rather get into tankers . I wonder how long training is compared to van??? Im getting my CDL's free thru a 9 week tech school here local so I wont be going with Schneider for my CDL. -

From what I understand, the tankers run out of their OC in Texas. They run mostly in the south down there. However I do see one out west in my neck of the woods. In Fontana at the OC there, I saw a tanker once or twice.
Not sure what they haul exactly. -
I talked to a SNI recruiter two weeks ago. I already have the CDL but no experience so I still have to do the school. He told me the same about the 12.50/week but nothing about a contract. I was offered a job driving tankers for them and was told 5 days on the road and 2 off. Anyone else heard this before from them? In response to tanker training, I was told after the 14 days I would have to go to Pittsburgh for a week of bulk training. One thing that I need to clarify with him though is transportation to the school and Pittsburgh. The website says that they will pay to get you to the school but the recruiter told me that I would have to get to the Carlisle OC and then to Pittsburgh on my own dime. The earliest class he could get me into starts December 29th and I have to call him back on the 3rd to do my interview. I'll let you know what I find out from that.

After training in CO for 4 days, they put me in a rental car where I went back home to WY...then took that car over to Denver. From there, I used the company car to go home a couple days later, then took it back when I took my CDL. Then I was put on the route that leaves Denver and goes to my town to hitch a ride back. For the rental and company car, I just paid for the gas myself and was reimbursed.
I know someone else that was sent down to Texas via plane to get their truck.
