Someone told me once that any company that gives you a bonus at sign on you have to pay back if/when you quit to go somewhere else. Have you heard this? Or is this just if you sign on/get a bonus and school at the same company?

If you pay your way thru school. Does maverick still start you out at .36-.37 per mile or do you start out at the higher .40-.41 per mile? This is with no experiance and just starting out. If they start you out at the .40-.41 per mile if you go to school on your own, that might be the way for me to go.

I don't know if any of u have heard but I got a call from the recruiter today and she told me that mav had a meeting. She told me that unless you are in the specialized hiring area they are no longer running students through the school for flatbed. She said that the wait was getting out of hand for the school, So If u are In the hiring area for flatbed u have to get youre calss a through another school or by some other means. Might want to call youre recruiter, thouhgt I would let everybody know.

I have a question. I went to another trucking company orientation last week and they are wainting on some info to come back. But in the meantime I am considering going to Maverick for their orientation and training. I have already been aproved to go and can go sunday the18th or the 25th.Do you maverick guys think I should make this move and if so do I have any ties to the other company since I have not actually been hired.

I have my class A, but I have no OTR experience. I got them in Texas (based on military experience).

I was only there for the 2 or 3 week orientation in Cuba, Al. I had a family emergency that meant not going with a trainer, they took out the cost of the room and food for this, which is why I went somewhere else. Anyway, McElroy seemed sort of strange to me. Even on the training course, one ding to that truck and you are gone. 11 of us came in and only about 5 were going to go with a trainer. It took very little to get sent home.
Initially, the instructor went through the course himself showing us the manuvers, including the 45, parellel, straight-back, the 90 degree (which we were told not to do, but do do for the sake of the course), and serpentine. You were graded on your performance of these, however you were lucky to get enough time to practice them. You would be tested once again when you returned from being with your trainer which was 3 or 4 weeks, I think.

Also, you were given an envelope containing the instructors' grades and personal opinions of you. You were not to open this envelope and you were not told what is was, you were just to give it to your trainer. I only know this cause after I left I opened mine. This was last summer when I was there about June. Maybe things have changed.

Hey , what did it say in the envelope if you don't mind me asking, I'm curious on how they put things in those envelopes.
And I can't remember if you said what company you decided to go with after this. What area are you wanting to run?
Have you heard of Shaffer refridgerator divisions?
