I forgot to add the chalk. Put the chalk beacause the "chalk is cheap" money buys the whiskey.

Chalk balancing, I used a old glass bottle to set beside the wheel to make sure it did not wobble.

We had talcum powder in a big bucket to toss around inside the rim, it was cheap and had plenty of it to keep the liner and tube from sticking.

For some reason unbeknown I'm in the mood to talk trucks. Especially American. GMC Astro, Pete 362, Freightshaker FLB, IH Transtar.

Yeah, those old cabovers were great, as with everything as time goes on you tend to forget the bad things and embellish the good.

Ever run an old cabover, like a crackerbox in a Northeast winter? Heater WOULD NOT keep the cab warm and the firewall where your feet were was probably only about 10 degrees warmer than it was outside. So in zero degree weather your toes were ALWAYS FROZE.

I agree that on a nice sunny day in the 60's and on a perfectly smooth road there great, but in the real world, I'll keep driving my plastic toy!

You should be punished for using Cracker Box and Heater in one sentence.

My cab-over was completely redone, the soft side insulation with 3m spray adhesive was the trick. It also kept engine heat in the summer off me.

Fridge king roof ac was so cold it made my ear hurt on high LOL

i can wax nostalgic for a lot of things BUT
my model b mack 10 wheeler with no heat and a blanket wrapped around me and using the ice scraper inside to see are not one of them
nor the autocar dump truck with no power steering and a quad box

now my 82 cabover with a 425 cat 13 speed i still miss that gem

LOL, some time ago I was walking thru an old truckstop in Montana, dirt parking lot, up ahead was two drivers walking to there trucks. One older gent jumps in his Marmon while the younger guy is doing a walk around on his CELEDON.

The guy fires up his Marmon and the kid checking out the pass. side of the Celedon just about has a heart attack, Yup, been a while since i've heard an air starter.

I still think that old guy in that beat up Marmon did it on purpose, his timing was perfect. lol
