    Anybody ever used this amp before? I'm thinking about buying this with a crystal so I can get out farther and talk over people.

    The crystal is only a gimic to try and get around the fact it is a illegal linear .. The crystal will not help you get out ...

    Ok, they just said it's optional to stabilize a frequency. I think it's only illegal if you sit in one place and bother people.

    Kind of like running a light is legal since you are moving? Then again if you are not moving how do you run it?

    The amp will not work for you as purchased. Mods need to be done and only a knowledgeable tech can do them. In any case the amp is not legal regardless of your velocity.

    A crystal must be installed to determine the frequency of operation.

    From what I read, you just need a "jumper" coax so you can run the CB to the amp and the amp to the antennas.

    This is because it is sold as a crystal controlled TRANSMITER ...... and you mod it to a linear.
