Depends. 7 mpg would be great for someone getting 5 mpg. For those of us getting mid 7's or better, then it is cause to wonder what happened...... was I in a more difficult terrain with a heavier load, high cross winds, etc. For those that have and are getting at or above 8 mpg, yes, it is terrible to get 7 mpg. It is not terrible when you look at the trucking average, but when you are running a business, why would you want your numbers to be average? Most would like to maximize their profits.
Pre EGR overrated ?

Get the best of both worlds. Get an '06 with EGR, delete the EGR and now you have a new truck that will get better economy and never have an EGR problem. Blocking EGR is easy on all motors.
new2me Thanks this. -
As Cowpie stated, glider! Had my Coronado(Fitzgeralds) since April, always over 7+, continues to improve. You can have the new emmissions wonder trucks and all the related downtime, costs and lost revenue .

I love the idea of a glider but just can't make the math work even accounting for the lost income. And I use full revenue numbers not lost profit.

What do you mean by lost revenue?
