the main reason I left was due to an accident I was involved in last year being ruled a "preventable" and being put on probation.
it didn't matter that I had witnesses, a police report telling them what happened, i was not cited for anything, and was doing everything possible to avoid it. Brett Graves decided it was preventable, and the low life son of a ##### had the audacity to tell me "it's just the nature of the game" and "just business"
I've got nearly 15 years in the trucking industry, with over 5 being OTR..2 1/2 with Maverick. I've never had a moving violation, never had a violation in hundreds of inspections, never wrecked/bent/damaged a truck....nothing ever.
two and a half years at Mav, never late, no damaged/shifted/lost loads, oor and mpg's, and miles always at or better than expected, one of the cleanest trucks on the fleet, DOES THAT SOUND LIKE A CARELESS DRIVER TO YOU?
I take what I do very seriously, it's not a game, this is how I provide for my family. I came to the conclusion that I no longer felt comfortable working for a company with ######### such as Brett Graves or Dean Newell making snap decisions that affect my livelihood.
I enjoyed working for Maverick, and met alot of great people while I was there.
I've been working for a local company for the last 4 months, and it pays extremely well, but I miss my flat's.

First of all...your frustration is understandable, very much so based on the info you provided.
Just sayin...the same thing they were trying to say...it wasn't personal, they were just doing their job.
That said...if they were to pin something like that on me and I didn't believe I deserved it...I'd be gone so fast it would make their heads spin.Last edited: Aug 19, 2012

I wound up turning my truck in Friday. I just couldn't handle the inconsistent otr truck driver checks. No more counting the pennies and 16 hour days only getting paid for 8 of them for me. Starting back at my steady $240 a day, 5 days a week, 8 hour a day remodeling job. I am gonna miss the adventure and the work. Just couldn't justify the hours away from home and family for the paycheck. All and all I can't say nothing bad about maverick. They are a top notch company. Trucking just isn't for everybody I suppose.

Wish you luck!
