Hey so I have a 1997 Freightliner FLD S60 Detroit 12.7L that I just bought. It's got a small water pump leak that I can't really afford to fix, an it's just a day cab i'm
only local right now, I just keep an eye on the water temp gauge and I add some water and coolant every week. Anyways, last two times I drove it after awhile(both times it happened as I took an exit and came to a stop) the check engine light and oil light come on and buzzer. It did one time stop after I made a turn. Then came back on after 5 minutes. But anyways, is it a bad coolant sensor? Is the oil light universal for the coolant as well? Just the CEL and oil jerry can light come on, no engine shut down light or anything. I'm assuming the coolant sensor is going out? Any help would be greatly appreaciated. Is there a way I can shut off the CEL buzzer after it comes on? It's annoying as hell. Hope I can get this fixed. Thanks

Okay, so I unplugged the coolant sensor...and it's still happening. So I know it's gotta be something with the oil sensor. Now, it doesn't just come on after driving awhile and stay on, now it comes on (only for like a minute) randomly when I come to a stop at a stop light or stop sign...so I'm thinking a wiring issue? Maybe a wire is loose or held up...or a short or the sensor itself is going bad...

anybody know where the oil sensor would be?

There is one on the passenger side of the motor. On the housing for the oil filters, The should be one on the back of the engine block, at the corner of the block, drivers side, just underneath the intake manifold, you will have to look for it carefully. Mine is underneath a wiring harness.

Bought a new oil sensor and changed it out yesterday. Fixed the problem, no more annoying buzzer!
