I recently graduated from driving school and got my CDL withh all endorsements and a TWIC.

I am thinking about applying to May and I have some questions.

I live outside New Orleans along I-10. Does May run a lot through I-10 this far west of Pensecola?

Is there a drop yard anywhere in south La.?

Pensecola is the terminal that is closest to me. I would guess that would be my home terminal?

Are there orientations at Pensecola, and if so, how big is the average orientation class there?

In the SE, does May only do reefer, or is there also dry van?

I've read about the nightmare wait times delivering a reefer load. How often does that happen?

Thanks for any help/ advice anyone can give me.

I live in atl,GA I wrked for.may back in 1/10-10/10. When I went there I was the only one in orientation so it was a breeze. You go to.golden corral everyday. You will pull reefer trlr but will get dry loads. They idle policy wasn't for me and the miles are like the stock market, but I did enjoy the time I did with them

Most of the cold storage facilities seem like they are always behind. Wait times over 2 to 4 hrs are not uncommon.

I pulled refer over 3 years, don't anymore and certainly don't miss it.

I've been getting good miles, but I'm noticing longer and longer wait times. The other thing that is getting on my nerves is the "pre-loaded" trailers, the last 3 of those preloads were not preloaded. Costing me time and money. Last 3 weeks was about 3100 miles a piece which I am good with.

Good for you. Those are great miles! When you can string week after week and month after month like that it's even better.

"Home" terminal isn't really tied to where you live. I live North of San Francisco a bit, and Brooks is the closest to me, but my "home" terminal is Layton... You could very well be dispatched out of Brooks! :biggrin_25520:

when he asked home terminal, i didnt take it as where you would be dispatched just where he would park, i know people who live in cali, that their DM is in denver, but of course they take hometime at one of the drop yards lol to me 'home' meant more of 'hometime', doesnt matter where your dm is hell you never have to see them
