Try Star Transport in Morton, IL. I work for them, and they have lots of runs in MY, plus they will train you.

The NYC thing is scaring them.
They don't know how to get you home.
Look around Brooklyn and Queens, you might be able to find a job with an O/O or an LTL company on the loading dock.
Then you can work your way into a truck and get your license for
    FREE!!!!!!

I think if you WANT to drive OTR,do NOT have a recent dui etc.-you can find a way. There are plenty of places to call/contact.Think nothing of distance..I know a couple people here in New Ulm,MN who are from TX and driving for a company in aforementioned town-and two of my friends drive for different companies 1000 and 1400 miles away respectively. Keep calling, writing whatever. You will get what you want. Then for most the real trouble starts. Sad but often true.

Personally I would go to school and not be an "indentured servant" but that's just me.
