All of the hotels at the school locations have a fridge and microwave in them. The hotels all have some kind of breakfast also, Cartersville is the best.If you go to the store and get some groceries you can save alot of money. I spent about $200 the whole 3 weeks, and I went out to eat a couple times a week to break up the sandwich and mac and cheese routine.
You will have to pay for your own bus ticket if you are a inexperienced driver, Millis only pays bus fare if you are an experienced driver.
Awaiting MILLIS Approval!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Where is the closest greyhound to richfield wisconsin? Trenton ohio? I wasn't prepared to buy my own ticket but I'm willing too. Any way to get a discount?
-
Not sure about Richfield, but Trenton is Cinncinatti. Be prepared tho the cab ride from the bus station to the hotel in Trenton is about $60

There are companys out there that need you to go to work for them. I wouldnt even consider going to work for someone who is going to make me pay for all of that myself, what joke. Friend of mine went to work for swift and they even paid for his bus ticket to kansas city,mo. And transportation while he was going through their program. Shouldnt matter if you have experience or not they should pay for everything but your meals, just sayin i would look around some more every big company hires students.
-
Lol yeah Swift will do anything to get a new victim... big difference between Millis and those "other" companies.

Wasn't recomending anyone go to work for swift. That was my point a company like swift pays expences to go train but not millis? Doesn't seem right. I was trained by crete and they paid my rental car to lincoln,ne and then had a van pick us up and drop us off everyday. Paid for all but one meal everyday.

I'm not gonna argue or debate or start anything, but there is a HUGE difference in working for these 2 company's. To each it's own, and everyone needs to research a company before jumping in anyway. I have never went into a job or applied for a job feeling any "entitlement" from that company as your posts suggests a person should feel or expect from a company. How is any of these companies even entitled giving a person anything? A potential employee hasn't even done anything for that company yet. Like I said before there are company's that will pay for all that, but like I said before a person is going to pay for it some way or another, either being a much lower working wage, paying it back or somewhere in between. I could say more I guess but there really isn't a point to it, anyone getting into this career is a adult and should educate themselves before "jumping" into this world in my opinion.Cooper09, Boomer 1 and MojoPotatoe Thank this.

It makes sense if you look at the size of the company's, there turn over rate and what they are running. Swift has a much higher turn over rate, are a much bigger company and have to have a way to entice potential employees to join there ranks. Millis is a small company built on focusing on driver retention out of the schools they are running. They are not turning high numbers of students out of the schools, thus not making money doing it, making money out of the schools doesn't seem to be what they are focused on. There is a huge difference between the two and it's up to a person looking at company's to decide what they want out of a company when they make a decision.
Crete doesn't run a training school for inexperienced / Non CDL holding students, thus Crete doesn't seem to be a option for the Original Poster. Crete might of ran a program in the past but they don't seem to currently be running one. Just curious why are you not with them now? -
I wanted to do my own thing. Bought my own truck.
