Hello everyone,
My name is London and looking to come work for Key Energy. A little bit about myself is I have over 19 years experience in the trucking industry (From Dispatching ,driving , operations and management). Currently working overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan for Contractors . After the draw down of Iraq a few of my friends wen to work in North Dakota and I went to Afghanistan.
Like to know who is the biggest player in trucking (Key Energy or too many company's to just pick one? ) . So if I understand rent is 460.00 a month per person or is that between the two personal living in that quarters ? Far as time off ..... are you allowed to continue to work say two weeks and take five days off at one time.
Of course the question on everyone's mind is money? So if i read everything correctly salary is $90,000 with overtime . Is there options to make more ? A normal week is 60 hours , and how many turns are you able to do on a daily bases .How bad are the mountains in North Dakota . I have been over almost everything on the west coast. Just been hearing a lot about the grades on the back roads which I'm sure can get bad at times . Just looking forward to hearing your insight . Thank you
God Bless

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I would check out the Minot Daily Newspaper. I think they posted all their jobs in that one. Not sure on the rent. I called talyor liquid company and they told me that you can make $250,000 a year but the catch is you have to find a driver to drive the truck when you are not, so you have to pay an emplyoee also you are responsible for the maintenance, and fuel, as well as health care for the employee work mens comp etc

I grew up in eastern NoDak. There are no 'real' mountains in ND but you could encounter some steep local roads. Be fore warned, there is nothing to do but work in NW NoDak and with winter quickly approaching, be prepared for sub zero temps. Coldest I ever saw was -85F with wind chill.
gdyupgal Thanks this. -
Rumor has it that KEY has pissed off HESS. HESS was ALL of Key's work in ND. They have a few hundred trucks in ND and everyday that are nearly that many sitting in Tioga. Williston yard is full too. I'd check out Badlands Power Fuels or MBI Energy (formerly Missouri Basin Well Service). Key has new equipment, and housing but they are known for hiring subpar drivers and have not been very well managed in the recent past. Key has been recruiting guys from Afg for a few years to come to work in ND. Most start at Key then jump ship to a better company. I have nothing personal against Key as I have never worked there but I see with my own eyes their trucks sitting nearly every day. Power Fuels and MBI running hard daily. Your choice.... -
So you are taking about leasing a truck on with Taylor. The question was about hiring on with Key as a company driver. Two totally different things. Company drivers don't make $250k.

No I am not going to buy another truck , not again at least. Will go back to being a company driver and not have to worry about the headache
Thanks again for the advise

I am up here with Key and Hess is not our only accounts. Hess has distributed their work out more as to not put all eggs in one basket, nothing about pissing off. Hess is big on safety and Power Fuels killed a guy not to long ago by running him over on location. Sounds like that would piss em off to but they still spread the work around more than they did a year ago.
It is slow and we are going through management changes but it is slow for everyone. Power Fuels and MBI trucks are sitting on yards as well. Some are bigger Co's so obviously will have more out. Look for your housing choice to be high on your list of priorities as well, some live like rats and some get paid more but get charged more for housing. Two weeks on 5 days off must be coil tubing or workover rigs , I am in fluid management. How many turns depends and varies don't matter you are on for 12 ..90k with OT when it picks back up maybe. No mountains but some locations have steep entrance hills and some have chained up in the mud
