I would recommend Werner. They are a good company to start out with. I worked for them for about 9 years. My complaint with them was they didn't pay me what I felt I deserved for my driving record and experience. Having said that: I would, and have, suggested them to several people starting out. Give them a call.

And also: If you do call Werner be up front about ANYTHING on your record, including any firings and the reasons for it. They do check your record (ie. criminal, MVR, etc.) and if there is something there you didn't tell them it could ruin your chances.

Try Con-way Freight, they are advertising that they will help. Put them to the test.

Con way might work for you. They have a truckload division and LTL too. And they probably have a terminal pretty close to you.

Anyone who has worked for Werner that long I have to question their mentality.....

I know a couple of old timers who worked for them for years and years doing line haul.
They both say that once the old man got out, everything went to hell.
Alot if these companies were started and owned by DRIVERS.
It seems that in every instance, once they stepped down and their children or extended family took over the same thing happened. Suddenly, the driver stopped mattering.

It should'nt matter how much work exp you have.Where you worked does'nt even pertain to trucking.Next time a recruiter comes up with lame excuses for not giving you a chance then stand your ground on their reasons.

Your work history shouldn't matter too much. It doesn't pertain to this industry. But, although the history won't show you can do the work, it will show if you will work at all. And depending on why you were let go, and providing you are telling the whole story, your work history doesn't sound too bad. We all know drivers who are "hat collectors" and have worked for ten companies or more in only 4 or 5 years. Keep making calls. You will find something. Sometimes the best jobs are the ones that were the hardest to find and get.
