Yes, I agree. Werner's dispatchers are bad because Werner wants them to be and it is part of very organized business that is criminal.

Doubt either of you been driving very long.Every company, the big ones anyway are like Werner dispatchers.Your job as a driver is to deliver and pick up freight. You'd be better off if you not worry about what the dispatchers and other departments are doing. You don't like it then quit, you would'nt be hurting the company one bit if you did quit.Plain and simple, they do not care and won't change anything for the drivers.I don't worry what goes on behind closed doors.I do my job take a brake then do it all over again.

This is true. My idle was set to cut out at 8 minutes. I had no A/C and no APU. Werner is taking out their APU's and setting the idle limit to 10 minutes or less. That means there is no A/C and no heat when the truck is stopped longer than 8 minutes. After training, several new drivers in my orientation, requested an increased "idle time" or "APU." (An APU is an Auxiliary Power Unit that can supply A/C or heat in the truck when the engine idle is off.) A Werner Gra-Gar Manager said Werner would not allow idle time or an APU and drivers needed to just get an extra coat and blanket in winter and in summer "drivers just need to deal with the heat" because he was not allowed to increase the idle time. (Increasing idle time, allows the truck's engine to continue running for the purpose of heat or A/C.) When my truck was stopped, I had no heat or A/C after 8 minutes.....(and this was normal procedure for all new drivers in my orientation).

Hey Sofia, I'm finishing my last week of school in Orlando, Fl. and I would really like to know how long, or if you still work for werner? If this you are talking about in your last post, I feel really sorry for all of the drivers out there sweating their #### off trying to sleep. That #### sucks!

I left Werner. I was driving solo....and yes, it was bad this summer without A/C. I simply drove to my home terminal with an MT (empty trailer), parked and cleaned my truck, returned the keys and did not say anything to anyone when I left. (Whatever you do, if you start working for Werner and when you realize everything I wrote about it is true....please, don't abandon your truck...not ever)...Werner was accusing some drivers of abandoning trucks when the drivers really returned their trucks to a terminal or yard. I made sure I returned my truck keys to the garage and had a signature authorization of return. Also, I have refused all calls from Werner because they want me to come back. Try a google search "Florida Regional Trucking Companies." (I think Inland Transport is in Orlando and I think they are good.) When you go to these regional companies and apply for CDL-A jobs, ask very specific questions in your employment inquiry....first make sure the company is legitimate and that they are licensed and bonded. Ask questions like, "Do you hire new drivers with training?" Some don't because their business insurance doesn't cover drivers with less than 1 year OTR. I really hope the best for you. There are some really good USA trucking companies....you can find them, if you look for smaller regional companies that insure new drivers. Regional smaller trucking companies still do long hauls. I interviewed with regional smaller companies in SoCal - S. California - that did runs through Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho and Canada. I suggest staying away from Werner and C.R. England (but, if you go to Werner or C.R.E., don't abandon your truck......just return it to a Werner Terminal and make sure that you sign a return authorization of some kind....then they can't put you in prison or fine you....

Sofia, Honestly I;m looking real hard at Stevens Transport out of Dallas, TX. Here's why, lots of miles, great equipment (Trucks & Reefer units). The big companies that are refered to as "Starter Company" worry me, all the stories I read ( good and bad) makes it tuff to make the right choice. From what I under stand, Stevens is not on the stock market like the " Werners/ Swifts " of the worlds. If you have any comments or insite please tell me!

    Thanks

Oh, I am sorry. I don't know anything about Stevens. Hey, maybe go to the closest large truck stop and ask drivers their opinions about Stevens...because drivers tend to be very direct and honest (if they're willing to talk with you). I never had any problems with other drivers....generally when they get angry about something it's for a very good reason.....
