Hey Guys,
I had a question regarding Prime's Tanker Division. I see threads about flatbedding and reefer, but not much on the Tankers. Can anyone give me the lowdown?
Type of Trucks, trailers, States they Run, CPM, type of loads (I read it's food grade only?) vs Reefer, etc?
I'll be starting out reefer, but would also entertain switching to Tanker if it was a significant pay upgrade?
Thanks,
Sly

We don't have anyone from the tanker division posting on here. Most of their runs are midwest and northeast, although they run all 48 - all food grade. The tractors are Freightliner Cascadia mid-roofs, with a full-size sleeper. There is a pay differential on the company-side.

Thanks, IP!! Just curious...and you are correct....not much info here.

Food grade doesn't pay squat . PRIME took a contract from us in Chattanooga and our terminal was glad to be rid of it because the rate was so low. The corporate office had pressured them to take the contract .

Pays more per mile than our company reefer guys got a couple of years ago. I don't currently know how that would stack-up against a reefer guy in a lightweight running the northeast with the pay differentials for those situations.

ive seen a few tankers in lw this past wk so im sure that adds to the pay scale as well

Ive seen several today goin across Wyoming. All fullsize Cascadia highrise roof. Just like I got.

I "supposedly" got hired on to yank a tank across the NE. Out of school and into Prime sometime around January/February. Looking forward to sharing some tanker info on here. I've been looking and haven't seen squat.
