    Regardless of the opinions on both sides of this- right and not so right- EOBRs are going to be part of the Federal Highway Bill in 2013. They are coming and they are coming to stay. Those few who manage to slip through the cracks and stay on paper are going to find themselves in a world of hurt. If a driver refuses to use it, the only recourse is to find another line of work. It isn't right but there it is. The industry as a whole is completely different from even 10 years ago. Like it or not, compliance is the rule of the day and as such, expect even tougher government oversight over our operations. Like I said- sucks but there it is.

    Whats next 65 mph trucks thru out the industry. government control is not the answer. Elogs were once intended for carriers who were not in compliance. The problem lies within shippers and recievers and dispatchers who have no business being dispatchers. Changing the HOS was a big joke and not being able to stop the clock was even worse. Does anyone actualy have true facts that elogs make a driver safer? And im not talking bout cb..radio or forum talk. Sitting waiting eats up time and time is profit yet the government wont help the trucking industry out that way. The whole system is flawed and no one cares to help or they look the other way. So lets say u drive your 11 after you took 2 hrs to load you get to the reciever and they say it will take a couple of hrs to get to u. Now you have only an hour left once that hour is up your at your 14 hr now the reciever comes out and tells u to back into a door and bring in your bills and stand by the.door how would u log that on an elog. Would you not be in violation. Of course on paper u would but paper u can fudge it. Im just curious how an elog would do in this type of scenario.

    @Road Warrior

    It is what it is. No one says it's common sense. No one said it is right. It's not even about safety- it's politics, pay-offs, and pandering. You can scream, curse, rip off your clothes and cover yourself with sack cloth and ashes and lament till doomsday-nothing will change. This is where we are now. The choices are to deal with it or get out.

    You'd log it as on duty without violation, but I agree with you. Elogs do not make a driver safer, some people have found a way to cheat e logs. Its all gooberment bull

    Yep , and you only have yourselves to blame . In 2006 ATA and Road Safe America sent a Speed Limiter Petition to NHTSA. Over 3,000 truck hating citizens posted supporting comments . They had less than 700 opposing comments from truckers . How many members here bothered to respond to the Request For Comments ? How many OOIDA members ?

    Now there is a great prediction! Even better than that though is electronic controlled trucks which would in a sense be robotic just not an actual robot. That is the future brother, hope I am gone by then.

    I can ......

    And companies DO fudge e-logs. They did it with mine and others for the company I worked for so we could get home or get a load done.
