Doesnt matter how much he drove. He gets paid all of it.
I agree with your frustrations about may. I frequently would be coming off home time only to sit in Denver for one or two days. If you don't get a preplan ahead of the weekend, you will most likely sit at May. Happened all the time while I was there.
May doesn't work for everyone. Their business model is a starter company. Get some experience, and if you can find a company willing to take you with the experience you have, move on if you think it will be better.MBunt387 Thanks this. -
Not sure I don't count the exact miles I drive I know what the trip pays. A least half but that's besides the point. I'm making money and putting safe drivers in May trucks that's what is important.

That's true, but you have to admit that your a tad on the condescending side with your remark as was I with the sucker comment. Point is, I feel I am being punished for something completely out of my control and that is frustrating.

Hey, it happens to the best of us. I've broken down been frustrated wanted to quit. And other stuff but a least try to stick it out a year. And if you're unhappy still do research. Personally, can I make more Money somewhere else yes. I recently did 3 mos local I love being on the road but I'm single so I see where you're coming from. And yea may is entry level but they ve been good to me and communicate to your dm tomorrow and if that doesn't work your ocm believe it or not they really don't wanna lose good drivers.

MB, you just have to follow your own conscience. One of my students from the Denver yard left May after 4 mos. and is running flatbed now. He loves it, never sits waiting for a dispatch and is really contented. So, there are options and yes, the grass can be greener on the other side...sometimes.

As far as trainers pay, etc, I know all about it as I trained for May. Joker could not possibly run 3600 miles in a week without a student onboard.
As a trainer, I used to run the 14 hrs of drive time per day that compliance allowed between my student and I.
I would drive in the mornings and leave him in sleeper berth status the have him drive out the reminder of the day up to 8 hrs. So, when my 70 was burned up, he still had hrs to run and I racked up the miles that way before getting hometime or taking a 34.
When I left at the end of May this year, my gross was right at $30,000 for 5 mos. I was on pace for a $70,000 year. So, a trainer can do pretty well because logistics keeps you rolling as a trainer. But hey, money isn't everything, right?

So check this out, after sitting 2 days, I finally get a preplan for 910 miles, pickup is tomorrow at 2300 FML

Screwed me out of layover pay lol
-
Layover pay at May used to be defined in their manual as 24 hrs from empty call to loaded call equals layover pay. I had a copy of that given to me by a driver a couple of years ago. It's no longer in the manual. They moved the goal posts
Now, you give up the first 24 hrs for free, then if you get a preplan that is scheduled before your layover of 24 hrs kicks in, even 30 minutes before, your screwed.
Nice, eh?
