If the law does not specifically state a legal following distance in seconds, then you should be successful on appeal, no?

Less than 3 seconds is hardly prudent .
Part B would be hard to comply with . It's takes a lot of space for a passing vehicle to be able to enter and have a safe interval between all vehicles. -
I think from a practical stand point, you would just be wasting more money with an appeal. Sometimes you just have to take your lumps, even when it doesn't seem right to you. I'm not going to remark on the merits of this case one way or the other as there I didn't see it.
But it is interesting that the magistrate "took it under advisement," and then found you guilty.Raiderfanatic Thanks this. -
Took the hit. Under advisement because judge Valdez had a full court and didn't want to look unfair. 600 yards behind me using a shadow method huh Try that! That is 6 football fields! I am changing my habits and no longer give a #### of who's behind me. The camper would have slam on his brakes next time. I also exit on the next off ramp when some cop seems to following. I don't care about the money as much as the stain I have on a near perfect driving history. I would have rather been in front of judge Judy.
Big Don Thanks this. -
Pardon me RickG I wasn't looking for sympathy but being aware of my surroundings used to be important like the camper behind that flashed his lights. I did not think he could brake as well as I nor was it necessary to brake. A driver also needs a certain amount of time to regain his safe following distance and should be done without jamming on the brakes if that is safe. I practice a new method now when ever I see DPS/DOT/Cop I slow down even though I am already 10 mph under the 75mph limit here and if he keeps following I exit at the next off ramp.
-
I can't understand why you got out of the left lane in the first place . Because the camper flashed you ? The truck in front of you hit his brakes and seeing brake lights you let off the throttle . What if he had continued to brake harder ?
-
I said FC slowed (backed off the throttle not hit his brakes) The camper flashed me after I passed the camper to return to the right lane.
Oh Brother! -
The driver that backed it down in front of you is the idiot here. The speed limit there is 75, and he's probably going like 68 to 70 and then panics when he sees the cop, and it ends up you getting screwed.

the amount of idiots on the road is unreal....(in ref. to the post above about idiots...)
Big Don Thanks this.
