Paid miles question!

Is always like that,they pay zip code by zip code,welcome.

 

Well, the short route is 590 miles. 50 west to Grand Junction, 70 west to Green River, then 6 north to 15 then on to Layton. All good road, don't see why they would want you to go any other way.

 

Let me just step in here a moment. I know you'll drive more miles than you're paid for. Not fair, not right, we agree. However, 50 west from Pueblo to GJ is one slow slog--pretty, but slow, especially if you're heavy. You'll just crawl to the top of Monarch.Lots of gear grabbing. Timewise, truckwise, fuelwise, and driverwise, I-25/I-80/I-84 is easier, IMO.

 

If you really want the shorter route, call your DM and ask if you can take it.

I have done so in the past. If the route is actually shorter and you can deliver on time it shouldn't be a problem.
Keep in mind, the shorter route might take you longer to get there, and take more fuel.

I have also requested a longer route that was quicker, and that also would take less fuel because it didn't require me to go through a bunch of little towns.

 

Request? When I was with Swift I asked my DM a couple times, she always said No.
After a while If I got a BS Route, I would not take it. Never heard anything about it.

 

There's something wrong with a company forcing you to go one route while paying you to go a different route.

I'd be looking for some clarification.
