Probably not. However, they will go after you if you owe them money for any schooling they provided.

NO thats not the reason!, Lease's are designed to make the company money, not the driver, If you want to be an O/O, go to a dealer and buy a truck and then lease it to a company, I've done the lease deal, and averaged about $1200.00 a week, sounds good right?, Well, When i went and bought a truck, That figure went up to around $2200.00 a week, least to the same company, Had a nicer truck, less cost on payment, just a better deal, When you lease, your paying more for a lesser truck than if you go out and buy one, If your credit is bad?, And you want a truck?, Then go lease one

I am driving local right now in order to build my experience, since im too young to cross state lines, and it is alright as far as hometime, and fairly predictable pay. It does, however depend on the company as to how much you will earn. It also gets boring driving the same local routes all the time. I dont have a wife or kid either, though. If that day rolls around, I would go local. The trucking lifestyle fits me pretty well also, so I think it depends on your prefferences and homelife as to where you'll be happiest.

Just keep repeating the phrase " would you like fries with that" after you have learned that one ( it is the hard one ) try " would you like that in a combo " Now you are all set for your new career.

    Hello there!

I'm sorry for getting back to you so late been busy working and dealing with this economy,My advice for anyone starting out is look around your area is there a community college offering a C D L driving course,if so then get into it.

These trucking companies are all crooks preying on newbies and you don't need them and a local job is best if you want to be home anyway so given that let's move on.

get your C D L the school sponsored training will say they will help you get Employment don't bank on that look around see what jobs are available example trash truck, cement truck.dump truck etc apply for these jobs get experience driving truck and remember have and keep the right attitude!!!!

You have a class A C D L even though you are driving a class B Truck it does count and just be patient your still bringing home a paycheck!!!

You can maneuver your way to get that experience to start driving Tractor Trailer and not all companies require O T R they do require 2 years driving experience and this must be verifiable so do a good job get a good reputation and be patient!!!

I will say if you must get O T R then go with a company like Prime or Swift do 6 months that with your past driving experience you can go anywhere you want!!! I learned you have to crawl before you walk!!!

I started out Driving Trash truck after getting my Class A from there went on to driving Cement Trucks and Dump Trucks in between was given opportunities to drive Tractor Trailer Flatbed when the economy went south in 2008 I had to take a job with Asplundh then decided to get back into driving so went with Prime did 6 months O T R and now working local for Perdue Farms Hauling live chickens home in my bed get to see my wife and kids and yes I drive a Tractor Trailer as I said be patient you will get there!!!!

This is not a argument but stay away from Leasing a truck it is a scam your renting your job and paying for a truck you will never own go company stay company combine your experience and decide what you want to do companies that want O T R will usually want that because you will be back out over the road the key is find that company that wants 2 years driving experience and stay Local,if you have a Local Truck driving job that is the goal not being over the road, the question is do you want a life and a family or do you always want to be alone and moving around and paying the high cost to live out there Truck stops are not cheap and you need to eat and shower? that is up to you!!! all I can do is offer advice but it is up to you weather you listen and learn from it!!!
