I can stop if I'm passing thru either empty or with a load, but to just use it like a personal vehicle no..

I have a 112 mile commute to get to the yard, I go down and back once a week...The drive down and back is a pain but I'm only on the road from Saturday to Wednesday I run dedicated LTL from Penn-syl-tucky to Flori-duh....

plus the money is decent, we run hoods, and loose leaf logs those factors are HUGE in my world so I take the good with the bad I guess..

Generally most companies let you take the truck home. Problem is finding a safe, secure spot that isn't too far from home.

Another thing is that if you run reefer you will have to able to park somewhere that you can run the reefer just in case you get sent home with a load. Also you don't want to be too far from home because you will need to constantly monitor that reefer load every couple hours.

    Arkansas Wookie Thanks this.

Yup I let myself take my truck home, don't mind if the wife brings her truck home either. Then again I am one of the nicest bosses I have ever worked for.

    And they believed you?????

I used to bring my truck home (from other companies) and park in my driveway but now I drop it off at the terminal just 3 miles from my house......and tonight it is parked at the Flying J in Joplin and I'm at home for the night...YEAH!!!!

    Mine does.

My current position is pulling trailers to and from Chicago rail yards. We were chosen for the position partly due to living in close proximity to the work area.

The nearest terminal is an hour away, which does not seem far in trucking terms of miles/time... But it would add up in hours lost and fuel spent.

My town also does not allow commercial vehicle parking so I only bring the cab home and park it in a rented public storage spot. $85 a month.
